I originally watched the start of this video when it first released, but wanted to give it the proper time to stand on its own. I absolutely love these types of games, they encapsulate everything unique to the genera of games, and tell a story that other mediums could easily fail at. The tone of this game with the heavily pixelated style, and unexplained sounds and settings, heavily reminded me of both LSD Dream Emulator, and Cement Mixer Simulator 2003. I suppose I would refer to this as "Power Lines Nostalgia"; there's almost certainly a more correct term, but being without it in my library, "Power Lines Nostalgia" aught to do. 4:30 to me is the antithesis of this, the way its framed reminds me of feeling all cosy when you were a kid, and looking outside during winter evenings, every lamppost and powerline becoming hulking, imaginative, monolithic, structures in the dimming sun; and how the light emitted by the lamppost's is that exact sort of nostalgic warm lighting of half memories, of lights and sounds from childhood drives and late nights. And that's not even touching on the dream like elements, that always find themselves comfortably lodged between creativity and nostalgia; the bewilderingly beautiful enigmas of a powerline powered cabin, reliant on a wood furnace, deep in a winters wood. But in regards to the message of the game, I always struggle, when discussing games like this, to tap into the thing that truly cause all that emotion. I think myself, likely due to my excessive pretentiousness, fairly media literate, but always in regards to games such as these, I am almost incapable of analysing the media I'm consuming, and instead, I just embrace it; my almost 3rd person perspective when I normally consume media, when I'm watching myself watch something, dissecting it as I'm consuming it, not intentionally mind you, seeming unconscious critique of the things I watch, always melt away when media like this comes along; I find it always to be so genuinely human, so fantastically creative and nostalgic, so wonderfully wild, in its executing, that games like these lie within my mind for... Well for very long periods of time; some of these are the afore mentioned LSD Dream Emulator, and Cement Mixer Simulator 2003, but also include Arctic Eggs, Babbdi, and my all time favourite of these types of games, and a game that is lodged inside my heart, Presentable Liberty. (There area a few others as well, but they do not instantly come to mind; I also consider parts of The Beginners Guide to fit into this spectrum of games) I find it peculiar, how its often these games, the ones that shut down the continues media analysis part of my brain, are almost always, the games most deserving a thorough deep dive, yet how I also think that the initial reaction we have to these games, are what make them so special, that we dont need the Lore, or facts of the world, we simply need to play, and take whatever lesson or message we took with us. I also believe it reasonable that the story, and messaging, in these worlds are often so compelling, that it defies my conscience's seeming inherit desire to dissect all the things I watch or read, by the shear quality of it. 3:28 And yes I would like to see you replay the Beginners Guide, been a while since I've walked through Codas trail. If this comment comes of as weird, or mismatched, or whatever, its because I've been up for over 30 hours and am enjoying my last adrenaline rush before I inevitably collapse on my bed minutes after I press "comment". Thanks for reading, I dont know why I wrote this, I dont think I said anything that hasn't already particularly been said.

Gonna say the artstyle definitely fits this one. I'm not a big fan of exaggerated pseudo psx style, but here it just adds so much to this dream feeling, like as if it's not an game at all but something you just happen to imagine in your head. As for the story, can painfully relate. The flame burns and runs engine that makes so many stories with no end that no one will ever see, the heavy feeling of such collection begins to extinguish the flame, more you think that you are just telling own stories to yourself without a purpose. But life happens, as it is, always same 3 steps - bright, dark, moody and again, slightly different bright. I'm yet to take the final step, hopefully y'all already had. Cool game and vid

i believe the story’s about an artist that lost their passion in art, with the flame representing their need to create. or that’s my best theory. but it’s up to your mind to decide

yeaaa the beautiful thing is there's so many ways to interpret this game. maybe it's about life itself and the home being the comfort zone the outside being the reality and the flame being hope AAAAAA I LOVE THIS GAME SO MUCH
