This makes me sad that they put this out of the show, well at least that is what I'm reading in the comments! I wished they left it in! It is very catchy and I love it! I'm excited that wonderland is on broadway! I can't wait to go see it!! Yippie!

It's kinda weird to see/hear an Alice that hasn't been paired with the Hatter (but it's a couple I don't really support anyway except for the Syfy version...), but I'm glad that the White Knight gets a moment in the spotlight.

ughhhh I'm so disappointed they didn't keep this in the musical, or even put it on the soundtrack! I felt the same about Love Begins as well! That was another great song they cut!

@Rashuanu You can probably buy the CD from the website but its not in stores until it reaches Broadway probably in April. The only way to get it in person is to see Wonderland in Tampa in January, other than that i don't know what to say.

@SuperGobaby I agree with you on the premise building, and thank you for responding!

@SuperGobaby Darren Ritchie is phenomenal in this and anything he does. Wildhorn is a great composer and he loves to be involved with the inner workings of these productions. String of flops? I would hardly call Jekyll and Hyde a flop. Dracula was one of the best shows I've seen in NY...and I've seen dozens. Critics love to hate Wildhorn and they decide they don't like a show before they ever see it. Likely, the same will happen with this show. What a shame.

@RainsMusicalBlog They actually didn't cut it, it's the 12th song in the show.

@SuperGobaby I agree with you on the rewrites. Due to the rewrites, the Hatter's got no defining characteristics beyond being an antagonist, the emotional journey feels rushed, and the final showdown between Alice and the Hatter makes no sense even by Wonderland logic. It's a shame because the score is good (or at least fun).

@SuperGobaby 3. Also, did you understand that line towards the end about the eighth square and Alice becoming a queen the first time you saw the show? I didn't get it until I read the plot summary on Wikipedia and even then I still don't understand what it's supposed to mean for Alice and her journey.

@darknessinzeros I know! There are some things like this where I can understand the concern, but . . . Then there are things like Mary Poppins. They took out "Temper, Temper." In my opinion it was the best part of the musical, but apparently 'toys coming to life and holding bratty children on trial' is too frightening for the young audience. :P If anything, the scene might scare the kids into keeping their tempers and not throwing tantrums like the characters.

I'm guessing this was mostly like cut due to drastic changes in tone. Like this song, and The Worst Day of My Life, the contemporary sounds of a pop rock or angsty pop punk may make it less magical. While I absolutely love these songs, a Broadway critic may feel like it may not fit the overall mood since the show is not all about Alice and the White Knight. It's more about her journey through the looking glass. However, I ask myself the sane question just like you guys: why on earth did you have to cut the best songs of the show? And I've come to realize critics don't watch the show to see good music. They come to see a cohesive story in which all elements, including the songs, unify the bits as a whole. Songs may be great as songs. They may encourage you to throw in that mixtape and sing along, even in the shower or even in Karaoke. But if s shows song dis-unifies a show, like slow it down, is relevant, or drags out the plot too much, that's when composers or Broadway producers may say this song is not going to work. Or that's when critics give bad reviews even though they may singing along themselves. They work alone as songs, but sometimes cuts are necessary. But like many of you I say: PUT THIS SONG BACK IN THE SHOW. WHAT WERE YOU THINKING. But at the same time I understand why Broadway producers cut songs. But I've noticed a Wildhorn trend: when shows leave Broadway, some songs cit from Broadway are added back in, such like Love Begins.

It depends on the show you see they keep the tune in some of the shows, like in the one I saw you could hear part of the tune. I think they cut out due to children who might be watching/listening. Darn children ruining my musicals. p.s. I'm currently trying to recreate the queens dress dXD

@SuperGobaby 1. By the male lead, do you mean the White Knight? If so, what are your issues with him? 2. I'm not as sure about your assertions about the Mad Hatter, though, 'cause I didn't see the first production, just the recent one. But judging by the soundtrack, Kate Shindle seems to be a better singer. On the other hand, her big song (Shindle's, not Snelson's) really didn't add anything to the show (what do you think?)

@SuperGobaby Webber, Sondheim, & Bernstein are/were not successful? I guarantee they did much more than simply compose scores. Wildhorn is successful. Has he had numerous Broadway hits? No. One...so far. He has, however, written for various artists & his shows are very popular with regional groups. Darren is phenomenal, IMO. Yes, I've seen dozens and I can like what I like. I am also a composer/arranger (and college professor) w/ a show playing in New York right now. You seem very bitter.
