On my mission, one of our investigators’ first prayers was my favorite. She said, “Dear Heavenly Father, hello. How are you?”

My Laurel advisor is celebrating her 100th birthday soon. She loved us, every one of us as different as we all were. She won our hearts. She took us toilet papering and cruising by boy's houses, and whatever. And now, even 50 plus years later, we all love and cherish her.

It occurred to me that this is the 3rd time Ammon turned down a kingdom. First, from his own father. Second....Lamoni offered him to marry his daughter (which possibly would lead to the throne) OR when Lamoni offered Ammon whatever Ammon wanted. Third, King Lamoni's father offered his kingdom.

I've been working as a custodian this summer, so I've been looking out for more podcasts to listen to while I clean, and someone mentioned this one and I thought, "Oh yeah!! This is my chance to listen to this podcast!" I've seen Instagram posts by him in the past and was always touched by them. This collection of chapters is my FAVORITE story in the Book of Mormon. You took all my favorite parts, highlighted them in the best ways, and added even more splendor to what I already loved. Got me crying while dusting 😂 It felt so casual that you totally blew my world and then just said, "okay, see you next week!" I am so touched. I may be a month behind in come follow me, and discovering this halfway through the year, but I'm so grateful to be here now ❤ thank you so much!

You guys are SO FUNNY! I was laughing out loud at this one. THANK YOU for keeping it light. Sometimes scripture can be heavy - but you show I it doesn’t have to be. There’s still so much reverence but with a dose of humor. You two have found your stride together. Love it.

I love the story of Ammon. One of best stories in Book of Mormon. I have a 10 year old grandson who isn’t baptized but would love this story too. I also volunteer in the reading program at the elementary by me with 3 graders and your story brought tears to me. Sweetest bunch of children I could ever work with.

For some reason the story of Amon was so special to me if I don’t really feel the spirit I would go to Ammon story and just like that it would flip the feeling so strong

We have a sister in our ward that was converted by what her father told her as a child. He told her that there had to be another book, besides the Bible. He then died in her youth. When the missionaries knocked on her door and introduced the Book of Mormon. She immediately knew through the spirit that this was the book her father had spoken about. She took the book, read it and was converted. She is 95 and she repeats that story, because that is how she was converted. This reminds me of the maid that ran and told others about Alma and brought them to hear the good word.

When i joined the church more than 10yrs ago, i was asked to say the openning prayer. My worst nightmare (as someone who is introverted and scared of public speaking). I said yes (and quietly panicked in my seat). I pulled out my phone and started frantically googling "LDS openning prayer". I couldnt get reception in the chapel and wanted to bolt. I started typing my prayer into a note app. When i got to the pulpit, i bowed my head and stealthily read my prayer through almost closed eyes. I dont remember what i said, but i think i was nearly running back to my seat at the end of it. I have to laugh about it now. Sweating over nothing😂

This was an interesting speculation to think about Abish. While we do not know her age, and we do not know what type of fitness the people of that time had in terms of ages around 25, 30, 40, 50... it did make more sense to see Abish as young and that youth don't second-guess themselves as she is noted to run from house to house. Much like a young child who wants to tell everyone or a teenager excited to share her blessing.

It concerns me very much that members of Christ’s church are still so enamored with Disneyland. We should all take a closer look at their values and how they really view our children. It isn’t the same place as it was 50 years ago. Are we comfortable with them pushing the LGBTQ+ agenda? I used to think it was a magical place but not any more sadly. I have nothing against LGBTQ+ individuals who choose that lifestyle but when they are trying to push it in our innocent children that’s when it becomes a problem. Disney does not display family values any longer.
@heathernehila74303 ай бұрын
I think you can look for the good in the world. We have had many memorable family vacations in at Disney World in Florida. It was a gift from my mother-in-law and we cherish the times we spent there!
@tbhughesth3 ай бұрын
We have good memories from Disneyland as well but can we ignore the underlying evil that is now there at the park and in the movies that are being made? Should we ignore that and pretend it doesn’t exist? We need to surround ourselves with wholesome influences and not support an organization that is trying to push an agenda that is not in keeping with gospel standards.

You again change the story. Lamoni’s father was going to kill Lamoni, Ammon interceded

It's called perspective. We learn by seeing things through others eyes.

@@merrijoprusse1725 she made it sound like he went after Ammon first, when he went after Lamoni first. Call me a purist, if you are going to ad lib, at least get all the facts straight and not change the narrative

@@joeshriver778This is a fair point. I don’t think this is a big concern for this duo because they are pretty clear in their style that they aren’t about telling the precise story. Not that they’re trying to tell it wrong, but they’re not so concerned about slip-ups like this because there are more important points for them to make. It’s helpful for you to point this out to others who are not so familiar with the story, though. Just recognize that they probably don’t read all these comments and even if they do, aren’t focusing their efforts on preventing these kinds of slip-ups.

@@joeshriver778how about trying to teach on camera and see how well you do before criticizing them! Sad that you watch to call them on an innocent mistake (as indicated by you’re including “again” in your comment). Seems like you totally miss the spirit of this lesson. There’s always someone so willing to call someone out. Like President Nelson asks, “be a peacemaker!”
