Besides Days of Future Past, this is one of my favorite X-Men movies except for the fact that they nerfed the ever-loving shit out of Darwin (the guy who put his head underwater to get gills, then dies from Shaw), in the comics he's practically immune to everything because he simply just adapts to survive it. Such a cool power only to get thrown away before Act 3 Edit: 27:01 "that" is Scott Summers aka Cyclops' older brother, Alex Summers aka Havok.

First Class adds so much beautiful context to how much sorrow Magneto felt in X-Men Last Stand after Jean killed Charles and how he shut Pyro up when he implied he could've killed Charles himself.

He kind of watched him die and walked away like it meant nothing though... and that line was stupid, Magneto tried to leave Charles for dead in Striker's Cerebro in X2. Wdym? In regards of Charles power, it is one of the most broken and overpowered ones in the series. He can do basically anything. His power has almost no limits. He can read people mind, control people however he see fit, make them do whatever he want, make them forget whatever he wants and so on. He can even freeze their minds as you seen in this movie and x-men 2 and kill people by litterly destroying their minds/brains. Charles when he is older specielly is a litteral continent killer if he wants to be, able to wipe out hundreds or thousands of people in moments and with his machine cerebro that works as a amplifier to his power he can kill litterly hundreds of millions to a billion in a few minutes.

Hello Don, speaking of both Magneto and Professor X's ideals they were create my the comic authors to be representative of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr. Both of these men were advocates for African American rights in the US (just as these characters are for mutants). Malcolm X was slightly more extreme in ideals (like Magneto) whilst MLK had a passive approach (like Prof. X) Just wanted to point this out to you to give some insight on the characters inspiration!

Except it’s already devolved into an “us versus them” situation. I’m not defending Don per se, but by firing that first volley the humans had broken trust with Erik, who then behaved in the interest of self-preservation on his and his friends’ behalf. For people Erik, and Don seems to agree, morality becomes subordinate to survival the moment someone threatens their existence. It’s thorny alright, and morally dubious, but not an unexpected response.

@@tutur8915 Interesting. I’ve noticed that some people have strong “pack-instincts” where they display an overwhelming bias for the protagonist. There's a reason for that. In the comics, he was one of Nightcrawler's parents, depending on the writer. And yes, Mystique was Nightcrawler's mom in this paring. The other paring is with Mystique as the father, and her wife Destiny (this was actually, apparently, the original idea, but was overruled. It was then finally put onto paper in 2023).

I certainly think this is the best of the X-Men movies (Days of Future Past being a close second), but there are still a few lines of dialogue that I think they should have changed slightly to be a little less cliché, and a bit more impactful. Hardcore fans of Marvel and X-Men comics will obviously point out errors in characters and powers, but I'm not that invested. The one thing above all others that I took away from this movie, is that Charles is an arrogant, hubristic, holier-than-thou, self-entitled ass. If the world doesn't agree with his ideals, it's the world that must be wrong, and he is entitled to interfere with anyone else's life in any manner so that he gets his way in the end. I really don't like him. Eric did not turn against Charles at the beach, he was protecting him and the others. If not for Eric, Charles would have DIED, and all his 'be the better man' would account for NOTHING. This is how they should have phrased that scene: Charles: "The men on those ships are just following orders!" Eric: "No. The men on those ships, who have free will, are CHOOSING to follow MURDEROUS, GENOCIDAL orders, for no other reason than they cannot accept the truth. Tell me Charles, if war was declared, but everyone chose not to fight, what would we have to fear then? They have chosen the path of death. Who am I to deny them their choice?" Aaannnnnnnnd that is why comics are fiction. As soon as you try to inject reality into them, the entertainment falls apart. The reason Charles is so hung up that he is right about peace being the only option, is because he's a telepath. He can force people to think or believe what he wants (mostly). After all, if he didn't want Shaw to die, well, Charles was controlling him, he could have had Shaw move out of the way of the coin, or blast himself out of the room, or SOMETHING. Eric killed Shaw, and Charles helped him. Then had the nerve to say 'don't kill these soldiers who are also trying to kill us.' Hypocrite.
@joseantoniovargas65484 ай бұрын
Magneto could've simply let the missiles explode under the water after they are fired, by killing indiscriminately he just pushes more of the fear he talks about. So even magneto is in the wrong, Charles is way too optimistic about peace and such but even Magneto would just cause more problems *cough cough* Days of Future past. So yeah both are in the wrong
@MRDRK14 ай бұрын
@@joseantoniovargas6548 - Killing someone who is actively trying to kill you is not indiscriminate, it's self-defense. The humans shot first, and no doubt would have kept firing, or tried to find some other way to kill the mutants. Survival has neither morality or legality.

I love these movies but I'll never understand why they paint Magneto as a hero. But that's today's people morals I guess
@docomega78625 ай бұрын
It's been a while since I've watched the movies, but I don't remember the painting magneto as a hero. Sure, he's a "hero" of the mutant cause but the same way a revolution would call some of its members heroes. He gives them a place to live free from human exploitation and enact their anger. He's not a hero by any means and instead the movies show the complexity of his character
