The thing you're forgetting about why Iris started the blog about the Flash was at first for Barry, and then to prove to the city that the impossible was real, and she's done that, she doesn't want to always just do Flash related news cause as crazy as it is, it's basically old news, and no one wants to read up on old news constantly popping up in their social media feed. And she also wants to be a journalist who covers a wide array of topics, not just a personal journalist for a super hero.

So iris being jealous does makes sense. In other show there’s more time for someone to process, have the new awkward relationship and react before expressing how they are feeling towards the person who told them fell in loved with them. Asking questions to herself like “how did this happen? We’re we always just friends? I thought we were close because as friends but was it in another way?”. But Barry didn’t get a reaction right away so he decided she didn’t have feelings for him and he must’ve made things weird. So they both mutually just decided they were still just friends and pretend he never said anything. So in a way Barry did cut off the opportunity for iris to really process and respond back from what Barry told her. So when Barry starts dating someone else those feelings that were deep inside iris started coming out more. But she couldn’t really express them because Barry did cut her from giving proper reaction. So they boiled over a bit. And started showing without her noticing. Which is common thing with adults with buried emotions.

Yeah, you're speaking facts.. I feel the same way. Because I remember how it affected Iris when Barry told her about his feelings for her. And, as we all know the type of person Barry is he doesn't let things settle in order for Iris to respond in the way she would like. Because Barry is the Flash, he moves on from things way too fast to really give Iris the opportunity to speak with him to express things. So yeah, she finally saw what her emotions were telling her and it just happened to come out around the time Barry was trying to date Linda and so on.
