EVERYTHING NEW IN TWISTED 1.21

This video was finished very early (April 20th, 2024) as I could not edit due to finals week, so I rushed to get it at the very least complete and ready for it's eventual release. In the top comment, you will see features that came out after I published the video.
Beta 1.21 is Twisted's Vehicle and Performance update, bringing along a ton of new features. Many of these features improve the quality of life of the game, bringing along necessary changes. The game feels incredibly fun again to play, and most users will notice a boost in FPS. Server crashing should be gone as well. Storm chasers, rejoice! Get out there and get on that EF5 tornado!

Twisted is a storm chasing game by Willzuh and Siryzm.
Throughout the rolling hills and prairies of the fictional state of Keysota, scientists and thrill seekers alike set out on the roads in chase of severe weather. Some will observe from a safe distance, while others will risk it all to get the perfect shot of a violent tornado from close range. Whether you're out there deploying data-collecting probes, intercepting in an armored vehicle, or just taking pictures, you're bound to have a run in with mother nature like no other. Just watch yourself, sometimes the hunters become the hunted.

As you can tell from the publish date (April 20th, 2024), this video was finished way earlier then usual before the drop of 1.21 (I usually finish these types of videos a day or two before the update). While at the time the update was mostly complete content wise in the development game, I couldn't wait any longer to make it as college finals are right around the corner, and I wanted to get it out as to not have any extra stress and pressure on me. This, inevitably, left some errors in the video so I'm using this comment to rectify them! I'd suggest to not click "read more" to view my corrections and other additions until *AFTER* viewing the video, as to not spoil some surprises :) *IMPORTANT OPTIMIZATION INFORMATION:* PlayStation 4/PlayStation 5 will still not run great. This is not because of something on our end, but because Roblox rhemselves for some strange reason limits the memory to 3GB on PS. I am uncertain about older Xbox one consoles, but Series X should see improvements. LITE mode being removed is NOT a bad thing. This is because practically EVERYTHING is LITE now on top of the new render system. No need for LITE if it runs super well everywhere. *INTERESTING ADDITIONS BROUGHT IN AFTER I FINISHED THE VIDEO:* -You have to repair chaser vehicles at tiv2guy's radar shop -Hail doesn't just damage vehicles now, they can damage players. Hail dents will also only show on specific parts of the car, as opposed to nothing showing (it was not implemented at the time.) -There is a damage notification if your vehicle has received 30%+ damage in any area. -Kunahic created a Dually variant of the Dodge Ram, which has now been added -There now several distinct sunrise/sunset sky colors -Dodge Charger now has a top speed of 140 MPH. -Kia Forte/Grizzly now has a top speed of 130 MPH. -Many other vehicles got speed changes -New Emergency Lighting System. Completely reworked, but only appears on the EMS vehicles and 2024 TIV 2. -Bumper buttons on controllers change gears. -Radar controls are now more smooth. -Map regen now occurs 36 hours after impact -Wounded NPCs despawn in 18 hours instead of 8 hours now. -Hydroplaning is actually a lot more punishing then what I shown in the video now. -You select NWS outfits from a clothing rack now. -Pressing B works with auto deploy -Pressing R opens the hatch -Players can get dragged alongside being lofted -Varied wall cloud height -SKYWARN rework *ERRORS AND CORRECTIONS:* -I forgot to mention trampolines in map changes. They're single handedly the best addition to the game and they saved it. Twisted should be a trampoline simulator fr. -Mesonets can be bought in the body section of the garage. This did not show in the video as it was not implemented at the time of recording. -The Silverado, ironically, is the only vehicle that doesn't have the new factory paint and I managed to pick that out of all cars to showcase. -There is no drone battery. I don't know why I thought it was a thing. -Anemometers on probes actually spin now. Wee! Forgot to mention this part on the remodeled tools. -NWS Damage assessment has been reworked, and I completely forgot about it. Whoops. You actually type in the number and it will reflect on the radar.

idk where else to put my critiques of this update but a lot of people seem to be here. I am still in early game and that's where I have the problem. Great update, vehicles, map, quality of life updates. Sublime. The major issue is the economy is brutal now especially for people who don't have a chase vehicle that can dive right in. Repair costs are insane, I went from having a solid 10k in the bank down to $850 in one night. 10k for a paintjob is wild. Add that with the fact that now even on a high risk day large with solid cape, wedges are now rare. So making bank on a tornado is harder and the cost of existing within the game is more expensive. I'm driving a fully damaged vehicle now and only have $850. Either lower costs in economy or up the amount of ways we can get money. Cause chasing in a broken civvy vehicle is not that fun. I understand realism and all but I play video games to get away from real life economy inflation... The minor issue i have is storms growing seem buggy. Storms explode and spring out of nowhere and grow fast to an almost goofy level. Also windfields still feel very small, but that just may be me not wanting to get sucked up but I swear I put up probes inches away from the solid visual part of the tornado and all I get is 40mph tops.

i have decided that I will not play this game until they either revert this change, add a gamepass to disable the need to repair, or dramatically reduce the cost. this was a bad addition no matter what way you look at it.

Yea agreed. Now I don't have money problems at the moment, I had all the vehicles in the game for awhile so I'm up to like 538k or somthin. But things are way to expensive for how little money you make. I wouldn't mind the costs if it was easier to make money. Seems like they just keep making it harder and harder to make money while also making things more expensive. I mean the dow 6 is 750k but they seem to keep nerfing it. Now I already have it and bought it like a year ago, but for some (if not most) people probably don't have the time to grind their life away on twisted to get the dow. Even with 2x money it'd still take forever.

Tofu I want you to know something. You are the one who inspired me to create my own small KZbin channel, I loved your videos and thought: "hey, why not start making my own?" so I started recording and editing my own videos with a simple editor (Microsoft clipchamp) at first I was not able to upload them, until I wanted to share one of my videos with my class, it had to be public in order to do that and since then I've had a small content channel going about gaming and other stuff, so far I have 17 subscribers but it's honestly a huge accomplishment to me, so I just wanted to thank you and say again I love your content.

I am beyond stoked for this when I get some off time to play it! I was able to play 1.20 when it first came out, but as mentioned in the video, I gradually began suffering performance issues, long load times, and random crashes about a month or so into that update's run cycle. Just fired Twisted up again, and it loaded so quickly that I only heard the first few seconds of the theme song!

I love the new dominators being a dom 2 main im so happy it got a remodel i also love the new lighting storms sounds and features the old sound effects for 1.19 when inside the tornado as-well as inside the tornado everything gets darker makes intercepting a-lot more scary i also love the new suspension and damage

Gonna try and keep this short and to the point. I just hopped onto Twisted to check the update for myself. Don't worry about the optimization, because it's incredible. *I'm finally able to play again!!!* The game runs so well! All the other updates look great too. The radar map is even more realistic and actually looks the best it ever has; the thermos has been cleaned up even further and is now completely straightforward with everything immediately there; the vehicle updates are awesome, from finally adding DOW 3 and Scout to the variants for the interceptors (still can't believe you actually added 2008 TIV 2: I didn't believe it at all even when I saw the leaks). It all just looks and plays wonderfully. Pass this on to the team: I know we tend to give them a hard time often, but from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank them for taking their time and keeping tight-lipped to deliver the best update possible. They're really helping Twisted realize its full potential, and I tip my hat to them. Now I go to sleep. First thing when I wake up tomorrow after a whole year of being unable to do so, I'm chasing again. The Kentucky Oaks yesterday, the Derby today, and now this. One of the best weekends I've had in a while. (Only complaint though is you guys didn't add Dom 2's 4WARN livery? Seriously? 😭)

So far I'm digging 1.21 aside from a few lil things that could possibly be just issues only I'm facing but: 1. It seems to me that night time is WAY too dark. I love that the headlights are vastly improved but it seems like after 11PM I'm hard pressed to be able to do anything in game. Even with headlights and a flashlight I had to wait until morning to rate damage. I don't think the solution is to make it light 24/7, but I think it would be beneficial to make night time lighter and add more street lights or something. 2. Mini map on the bottom left of the screen disappears when you're passenger in someone else's vehicle. I feel like it should be visible at all times. A bit annoying to have to open the full map to navigate vs just look at the mini map. 3. The player icon on the main map is either too small or not a very contrasting color. It was very difficult looking for my location on the map all of last night. I think making it more noticeable/bigger/something would be more ideal. Like with #2, navigation during intercepts was difficult because we'd have to spend more than a few seconds to find ourselves on the map 4. Maybe I'm a weenie but I think the car handling is a bit worse than previous updates. Hydroplaning being as massive as it is, while I applaud the realism, I think is a useless game mechanic. Then again the Charger wasn't the best at handling to begin with so maybe I'm a weenie. 5. I love the updated features as NWS issuing warnings but not being able to shape the polygons is a massive L. The current polygons are way too big imo and unless my game was buggy, I think it's a feature that needs to be brought back. 6. Maybe another only me issue, but even with full render distance, it doesn't seem to improve anything for me. My laptop can run Skyrim on ultra with 8k graphics mods no issues so I don't think it's a hardware thing for me. Last night there were a few times that everyone else could see the tornado in front of us and I couldn't. Could just be a bug but does anyone have any advice on better rendering? 7. Maybe add more mechanic/repair shops? Maybe not one in every town but I think there should be a few more added. Despite these issues, I think this update is a huge step in the right direction. The damage rating is so damn cool and I love it so much. Visually and sonically this update is brilliant. Thunder is spooky and the blue tint of hail cores is so realistic.

Upsides: More immersive gameplay, more variety of vehicles and equipment, new UI, new lighting for vehicles, changes to locations. Cool tail cloud and mesocyclone btw. Idk if its a downside or upside: tornadoes more unpredictable since it would shift more frequently, meaning we will have to watch tornadoes closely. Downsides: lag spikes when "regenning" map. Repair cost is so expensive. either upside or downside, depends: HYDROPLANING!!!!! DEJA VU!

not a fan of the vehicle wear system. it feels like the game is punishing you for not playing "correctly" and just makes up a reason to force the player to spend money they would rather save. a gamepass to disable this feature, like the infinite fuel pass, is preferable to being forced to go into vehicle maintenance that you have to "feel" to notice.

My main criticism for this update honestly comes with the interchange. I don't understand why the loops aren't smooth curves and instead very irregular circles. Makes driving on them a bit awkward. And the way the highway is connected to the interchange itself is a bit janky and unnatural.

Also if you read this comment all the way - on mobile the buttons overlap eachother, and on computer sometimes you cant drive after exiting the vehicle. And idea which is pretty weird-what if you made it so that on the 2024 tiv-2 when you take it to the repair place - you have an option for like 2k-5k or more where you can add an anemometer on top?

Something I'm having trouble with, is that first person, don't work anymore? Not sure why, and also there is something weird about Dom 1, there's the icon to open a door, but yet it doesn't open any doors. Not sure why, but I thought I tell you, just in case you guys didn't know.
