My dad used to have an excursion, the really desirable one too, 7.3 with 4x4. One if the nicest trucks I've ever been in even to this day. Keep in mind this truck was built in the mid 2000s. I never knew how much he bought it for but I'd imagine a lot less than they go for nowadays. It was back in like 2005-6ish. I assume they are so expensive now bc the really desirable ones are hard to find and if you do find them it's usually 300k+ miles.

They built (sold = accurate a statement) the 7.3L diesel X-cursion till mid 2003. Then they built the 6.0 diesel till 2005. If you built our vehicle today, as closely as you could, even by 2022 standards, it would be $100k MSRP easily. Seats 8 pretty well. Goes about in bad weather & Ice like a Snowmobile on NOS. Soccer moms used to own & drive these once Minivans were not cool to them any longer. But alot of those could probably be fixed by now. The biggest prob with the V10 is mpg, I mean if you don't mind paying a premium filling up all the time, then the 7-10mpg won't bother you. @rogerscott8321 Жыл бұрын
@Penguin1290 Yes. The less time spent at a pump is more time spent moving down the road. I drive for a living and work 12 hour shifts. If I'm making a long drive on my days off or during vacation, I want to get to where I'm going with as little time spent around my vehicle as possible. People don't realize how much time is added on to a trip for something as small as stopping for fuel. On another note, you're doing your driving in a more modern lighter vehicle that's designed to get decent fuel economy. I'm literally traveling in a 23 year old 8000lb vehicle that's about as aerodynamic as your refrigerator, all while still averaging in the upper teens/low 20s on fuel economy. This is a task that's difficult for most modern, full sized suvs.

The reason the excursion sold for so much is because it has a factory 7.3L. Almost all but a few of them were the 6.0 PowerStroke.
@jamesgeorge48742 жыл бұрын
They were produced from 2000-2006. The first 2 years the 6.0 wasn't even available, and 7.3 production went fairly deep into 03. I worked for Ford at the time. The 6.0, if maintained with the proper parts, and not leaned on with tuning, can be a decent engine. But most people can't resist plugging in a box, and turning up the power.
@jackylsmith81382 жыл бұрын
2000, 2001, 2002 and even half of 2003 they put in 7.3’s. So 2nd half of 2003, 2004 and 2005 were 6.0’s. So there are more years of the 7.3.

The v8 triton in the excursion is insanely under powered so the 7.3 is definitely the choice. The new rangers aren't like the 2000s rangers, there more like a f100, so you should fit fine. Also its risky betting on inflation because it could not come down or the whole economy could come down with it.

Yes can be impresive towin but if you want an SUV with speed and suspention to handle whoops at 7oMPH Go with FullSizw Bronco qith TTB independent front suspention and build it. More wheel travel than a Raptor and with gears and lockers tou will want with any 4x4 you put even 35" tires on a full size 4x4. Good modern shocks like Fox SwaY Away Or King (my favorite) You can move fast in control over desert trails and sand in comfort and control.not spiling your drink of? like Gatoraid and most anywhere else you could go in a well built 4x4. Permagrin off road every time is hard to beat. Gusset and plate the TTB for strength
