Patrol rifles are a necessity! They increase your firepower and effectiveness in a shooter situation. The three points of contact create more accurate fields of fire, round capacity allows you to engage multiple threats, caliber ensures that the target is downed on the first couple shots (pistol calibers can't provide the desired permanent wound cavity), and can be utilised more effectively through barriers. Hell even my local county sheriff's office can't afford ar 15's, but they are equipped with Ruger ranch rifles! Now with the budget minded Smith and Wesson M&P along with the Ruger ar 15's, there's little reason to deny an officer this kit necessity.

It's important for everyone to know these things so that people can respond properly to a police officer and ensure the safety of all parties. Thanks to Donut, and also Mike the Cop, people can remember that we're all human, we all matter, and we all should be safe and go home to our families at the end of the day!

Between Donut, Mike the Cop, and Officer 401, I have had my whole view of the cops change. I went from fear (for no good reason and fear of really anyone in uniform including fire and ems) to an appreciation and at least more understanding without half as much fear as before. I still highly respect the cops and know what the potential is if I do something wrong, but I am able to recognize now that with most cops, as long as I’m not doing something wrong I am completely fine and at the very least, safe.

One thing I learned from Public Safety Diver training was that EMS shears were required equipment when underwater as they cut through almost anything we could encounter for self rescue (commercial fishing gear is metal, and thus dive knives won’t work). I checked up on it and apparently it just collapsed from exhaustion after galloping for 10 miles! A vet came, they gave it some water, and it was fine.

Was wondering the same thing, as a horse trainer and vet tech for over 30 years, the horse looked exhausted and very still. Most horses try immediately to get up after they fall. This one looked lifeless. I have seen horses hit by cars and were killed so walking away from a semi going full speed is unlikely.
