This dropped during my trip to Colorado. When i saw this pop up in my podcasts last night, I knew I had to save it and listen to it while climbing it (after missing out on it last time I was here). While the park officials closed the uppermost part of the trail, it was absolutely enthralling to listen to you guys shoot the shit and drop some knowledge about the history of the area while driving thru it!

I remember watching the Monster Tajima run in 2011. He was sponsored by GoPro which was still pretty new at the time and every inch was meticulously filmed with multiple shots in ways that hadn't really been done before and the video uploaded to KZbin. Not only was the run itself insane, but the way in which it was filmed helped to change the way we consume motorsports content.

RIP Chandler Bruning! Chandler was a friend of my mom and had his engagement party at our house. He played Gran Turismo 2 with us kids and I remember him cracking a joke about how the game didn’t have his yellow Penzoil Monte Carlo stock car available! He had to settle for the escudo. Thanks for the vid guys! My hometown race is something quite special!
@deadeyeski3 жыл бұрын
We got to visit the area a few years ago. We took a tour bus ride to the top. We wanted to enjoy the road, without worrying so much of how to drive it. The whole time the driver kept saying how clear the weather was, and how great the visibility was. He even stopped at one point to take a picture of some mountain range, that he had never seen before on the many years driving for the shuttle bus. It is crazy, the difference of this road as a race track, and as a scenic drive. That "man" decided it would be best to pave an entire road to the top of this mountain must mean it is an amazing place to visit and very special.

@@PSwayBeats most of the cars and their sponsors go downtown Colorado Springs for a couple of days and do an event were you can look inside the cars and see what it took to get them there. But this year everything was down low and most of the cars did their climb and left sadly.

So from someone in CO, turns out Pikes Peak is only the highest peak in the SOUTHERN front range. Mt. Evans is actually the highest in the front range by about 150 ft and actually also had the highest altitude paved road in N. America. That said they’re both great 14ers with amazing scenery so I honestly think nowadays the hill climb is a big part of what makes Pikes more well known
