I'm with you, Jim. The 21st Century is totally screwed!! I am old enough to remember the 1950's like they were yesterday. I wasn't old enough to drive until 1965 but one of my fondest memories of the 50's was my neighbor across the street taking me and his younger brother (in the rumble seat) and his girlfriend in his 1930's Ford hotrod to the Route 66 Drive-In Theater. Things were just so cool back then. My first car was a '55 Buick Century 2-door coupe and I was then taking my main squeeze to the Route 66 myself. So put me down on the passenger manifest on a one-way trip right straight to 1955 in a forever-locked 1955-1969 repeating time-lock. I'll never get tired of it! In place of that, this video and others like it will have to do.

Hey! Just turned 70 and remember the words to these greats. So many people would ask me, “how do you know the words to these songs?” I had an older sis that played theeeee best music like these gems. Love her, miss you Jessica. I remember the house parties my mom let her have….gals swishing around in their petticoat dresses and flats. I sat there in “AWW”. Thank you for the great compilation of the best music ever. Keep it going folks, no other music like it or never will be. Rock n roll will rock on forever.

I remember when “In the still of the Night came on the airwaves. I was up in the third floor of our Irvington, NY home where we had a ping pong table and after school we would gather there and listen to the big hits out of NYC. I though this sound world last forever on the charts. When I walked to school I would sing the song, I was in heaven. This was the ‘50s and I was a young buck enjoying every minute of the new music, and just arrived in High School. Now the world was my paradise! Now I am 81 and still love this music. I guess everyone has a period of time they identify with and the customs of that time. But I can’t get past how beautiful, sweet and feminine the women of my time looked. In the 50s, 60s into the early 70s women were thinner without more earrings and tattoos than a pirate. They were ladies and to be respected and protected. They didn’t ware their underwear on the outside and seemed to take pride in their appearance. I was taught ladies first, open the door, give your seat to her and make she had what she wanted and needed. I loved this time and place of order.

Very obscure Playlist. Most of these groups I've never heard of.

These are all awful cover versions. I have a blog that only plays the original versions, but whenever I mention it KZbin deletes my comment. Please click on my name for the address.

I'm 70 and had 4 older sisters and grew up with this music. We had a red Bakelite radio that was passed down over the years to each sister. In our house that radio played the soundtrack of our lives--Pat Boone for sister #1, Elvis for sister #2, Johnny Mathis for sister #3, the Beach Boys for sister #4, and then the Beatles, for me, sister #5. There were 2 radio stations in Seattle that were awesome and they played all this music over the years. Brings back fond memories, thank you.

These songs do bring back memories but they are not the originals. I still like them ok but it does put a little sting in my nostalgia.

Had a lot of these on the radio when i was young. My mother used to sing and dance along to them. I was born 1959 and this and bill hailey were my mums favourite music back then.
These are all awful cover versions. I have a blog that only plays the original versions, but whenever I mention it KZbin deletes my comment. Please click on my name for the address.
