Man I knew Max got upset at the end from what he said during the 5 lp, but I didn't imagine he'd get to "This game fuckin sucks!" levels. 😄 I can see why he decided not to do a Hype/Rage compilation when he was so quiet/sour in the second half; probably would have upset a bunch of ppl. At least he acknowledged that marathoning it late into the night didn't help his mood. The Sanctus fight gets much better once you figure out how it works, but I remember how frustrating it is when you first fight him.

@@XionsEmpire It’s not about knowing how to play the game or the game telling you how it should be played. In the first half he was having fun messing around with the combat system without having to be told what to do or how to play, in the second half he didn’t so he stopped doing that. I myself loved every second of DMC4 except for the Savior fight and the Agnus window fight, but I ought to understand its shortcomings and that the things I found easy and fun may be annoying, boring or frustrating for others.

Half the game is missing, I wonder how much time Itsuno would have needed, and if he ever planned Dante to even been in the game, because not a single segment or boss in the game was designed for him.

The last boss fight was really annoying for me as well when I first played it but over time, as I became more accustomed to the combat, that fight kinda grew on me since its a test of quick reaction timing once you break the shield.

The fact that he doesn't shoot the things around Sanctus and that despite the fact that he attacked then used grab and it work, he spends 5 mins only trying to grab him, I really like Max but sometimes he just goes into a blind rage and refuses to do what worked in the first place.

Yeah max sometimes doesn’t learn from mistakes and just keeps trying the same thing it is kinda annoying but to be fair to him he did play a huge amount of hours and the Dante section really put him off his enjoyment so at that point he just wanted it to end.

It doesn't help that its given to you during the most ineffective chapter to use it in. You can kinda use it for judgement cuts against the crystals but that's it.

Original version yes, but they had the time they could've used to fix it up since they re-released it through special edition years later. They didn't and just made more characters to a barely finished game lol

this game was ALMOST a masterpiece, but nero's overall story was good even with the sloppy dante sections. if dante was playable as an unlockable character to run thru nero's story it would not have been so bad

I can see why Max was just absolutely done with the game by the time he got to the end, it’s basically only half a game in a way. I’m not sure of the story behind this but I’m assuming they some development troubles and couldn’t fully do what they set out to do when they started making it since the second half of it is basically just you going through all the same areas and fighting all the same bosses but as Dante. Combat itself seems dope though, there’s a lot you can do with it. Even with the flaws I still think it’s an overall much better game than devil may cry 2.

The lack of skills and the non-use of the devil bringer in this playthrough is annoying AF. Him saying that the game sucks when it's actually him who's a terrible player made me laugh so hard. It doesn't get any better on his DMC5 playthrough. The last minute of gameplay when he tries to grab the saviour's head instead of punching it with the devil bringer summarizes perfectly how bad he is at this game

I really like dmc3. I never seen backtracking as big issue. I hardly even remembered it was there in the first place haah. I like the ending and music in it too. It's not 3. Nothing is. but it's not that bad

i have to agree with max, DMC4 feels like such a downgrade in comparison to DMC3 in every regard: protagonist, bosses, villain, female lead, all of them fell flat when you compare them to what came before. I remeber when i played DMC3 for the first time and just by the cover i imagine dante would be the insufferable edgy emo anime kid with rage problems but i was so happy to be wrong! Dante was a goffball that didn't take itself or everything aroung him seriously, he was a lonely manchild that wants to fit with others by transforming himself into what humans see as popular (rock, pretty boys, cheesy one liners, bad boy act) but thats not him, he is just a dork trying really hard to look cool while failing at it, the game and characters calls him out on how inmature he is, during the game he has a journey where he goes from manchild to a man that wants to take resposability, taking the legacy of his father while being the guardian of the human realm. Nero is everything i imagine dante would be: the insufferable edgy emo anime kid with rage problems, his shallow love interest doesn't help either, he doesn't get a rival or an enemy linked to where he comes from, his story feels like filler and his design alone tells you capcom didn't have much fate in nero by making him look like dante but purple, from the beggining to the end of the game he doesn't change at all, he doesn't learn anything. i will never understand why woolie prefer this game over the previous one and nero over dante.

Because in spite of the failings in the story and characters, the gameplay of DMC 4 is objectively an improvement over DMC 3 Also, people have different tastes, Woolie likes Nero's gameplay over Dante. It isn't that hard to understand, peope just like different things

If you mean DmC devil may cry the reboot, then yes but it's not on youtube. He's played it through I think once or twice though and his opinion was pretty much what you'd expect. Terrible dmc game but good game if you take out the dmc name and characters.
