DOOGEE S96 Pro: 2 Issues / Problems: GPS & Microphone Volume: 1 Solved

I have only used this phone for just less than 2 weeks now, so I'm still experiencing it's usage and features. I found 2 main issues or problems with this phone. The recording microphone volume is very low. I got in the developer's code option to the Engineering Mode using dial code: *#*#3646633#*#*. I was able to tweak it from UL Gain of default 208 to my setting at 240. The other problem, a very important default feature is GPS and Navigation. The phone signal of the GPS receiver is weak or none at all. I am yet to find a resolution for GPS.

What about the other audio input options? Default, sound recording, receiver. What do they mean?

It will get complicated and depends on what sound functions that you want to manipulate. My example is that when I record a video, the sound was a bit low for me, so I change the Sound Recording numbers for Video and Sound recording. For the Receiver, I believe that is for Voice Calls, example if the people on the other end of you line is having trouble hearing you.

I have a Doogee S98 and the microphone doesn't work for making calls, for recording audio it works perfectly. Is there anything I can do and try to fix this?

I am no longer using this phone. As for what you are describing, when you are on a phone call, does the person that you are talking to can't hear you loud, or can't hear you at all?, as in no sound? I don't have the Doogee in front of me, so I can't check in time. If you can access the Engineer Mode, and go to Audio/ Volume. My video fast forward to clip time: about 3:00. Try expanding the Reciever option and change the UL Gain higher. Maybe I can try to find my Doogee this weekend and test out, and reply to you again.

My apologies, I still haven't turn on and use the S98 Pro yet. Did you get into the Engineer Mode and access the Audio, Volume, and Receiver Sound? Is its GAIN number over 200? If yes, 2 factors may be the cause of why others can't hear you on a call. One reason is that you microphone is stuck in MUTE. Second is that it's a hardware failure with the phone microphone.@@RogerioCunha_afl

Hi, I just fixed this with my phone. I went into the engineering settings / hardware testing / audio / volume / voice and turned it up to 240. Fixed my problem straight away. I wonder if a recent update turned this down?

I don't think it was an update. I gotten this phone almost 2 years ago and the setting was at I think at 208 Gains, in almost all audio settings. No pun intended, but I think the Chinese have louder hearing? That's why the number was set lower lol. @@LoneWolf_314

every time somebody calls my phone it always blank out why???my phone is ringing while it is blank out. I cannot seem to get the screen open. i have a s96 doogee.

Apologies for not responding quickly. As for your phone blanking out during ringing, it will be hard for me to diagnose your phone. I am not a professional/ not an expert, but I will try my best to help you out. You said your phone blanks out when someone calls you? So does that mean that when you have your phone on, like watching my youtube videos/channel, a call comes in and screen blacks out? Or is it that your phone is already screen-off/sleep, and when a call comes in and your screen stays off, but the phone is still ringing, but you can't wake up the phone to answer? Over all, you may need to turn on your phone to regular home screen, from there, go to your APP and open "Apps & Notifications", find your "Phone" app and open it. The settings for your phone notification may need to be adjusted or reset. After change, reboot your phone. This is just my take on this.

Sorry for late response. If you followed my video, were you able to access into Engineer Mode? In the Engineer Mode, you can raise the SOUND VOLUME MIC.

You have to root it using magisk. Then install magisk module for gps. It fixed my positioning

Thanks, I will look into and consider trying that. Honestly I never rooted a android device before, so going to be a newbie. Question, if I manage to root successfully, will the features of this phone work normal, like the night vision camera features?

@@notaprovee Hi. Everything will work as normal, except one thing... And that is, you will have lots and lots of extras. Like ad blocking, premium youtube (no ads). I'd say, limitless possibilities. Cheers and goodluck. 🍻🍀

So you S68 is having GPS problem too? I tried out AGM H5 rugged smartphone, and GPS was great on there, other functions work right, unfortunately it was not IP68 as advertised. Water test killed it.

i think its regional because im in europe belgium and have no gps problem... Also have doogee s96pro

If it is a regional problem, then my region here in the western US, Southern California, GPS does not work and let others know. However, I noticed then going into "Engineer Mode", running GPS diagnotic, eventho my "Google Location" is always on, that the GPS is "OFF". I always have to reset it, and leave it on running in the background. So to me, I think it's 2 things. It's a software issue of GPS switch, and possible hardware with the signal receiver (getting low reception, eventho it depects lots of GPS signals, but weak). Well over all, glad that your experience with your S96 Pro is a good one.

@@notaprovee Hi, I wish I found you when I first bought this phone. I bought mine off Ali Express. But it was nice learning this tonight. I went ahead and did what you did, and my GPS was working pretty good. Then I installed the GPS fix app, and my results showed 36 View and 28 in use, then later said 39 in view and only 20 in use, with my case off. I then put the case back on and retested and In view is 36 In use is 19 and almost immediately went to 3D Fix. Not as good as your Huwai but saying 3D fix, so I know it's running right, thanks to you. By the way, I am located in Central Illinois.

@@TheCopperFrog Great to know that my this video helps you. For me, I stop using the S96 Pro, cuz it was too much of a daily pain to access and reboot the GPS every time. Also I had to resort to an external GPS, which made it more inconvenient having to carry around 2 two devices. Also, eventho I got the S96 Pro for it's night vision, it's camera had no video stabilization in which I use only a camera phone to do my videos. The current only that I am using now is the LG Velvet 5G with hard case, so it's like a rugged phone.

@@wesleyeenjes From Doogee: they said it's possibly my network/data and location that I am at, which is my phone carrier and where I live. So they expect me to move out of my home and find a good connection area to move in? And to change my carrier? From Banggood: They are offering to reimburse me up to 30% of my phone's value if I can find a phone repair place. I told them that I can't, I don't know of any phone repair place, plus they normally service: iPhones, Samsungs, and other commons (they may never heard of or scene a Doogee phone lol).

Hopefully the Engineering Mode will help with the possible mic problem. Are you able to test your GPS? I still have my S96 Pro, but my main phone is now the LG Velvet with Poetic Case to make it a Rugged phone.

@@pewpewdead6377 The phone comes with a sound recorder app. Try recording your sound voice/talking, and see how it sounds. If it is low as described by the people that you said, try the Engineering Mode Mic adjustment and set to gain 240. If that doesn't help, I am thinking the microphone is blocked/covered. On the back of your S96 Pro, to the left of the Camera, you will see a tiny hole, that is your microphone hole. Get a tiny pin, use your sim card tray tool pin. Gently clean/ wiggle out any obstructions like plastic debri/objects in the hole. That is just my take on it.

@@pewpewdead6377 Hopefully you can solve your mic issue. If you are able to, then the phone that you got is a good phone. Mines, I was able to solve the mic, but no GPS.
