I'd like to point out, in Jeremy's statement about DnD around 01:39:20 , it is *not* a board game, it is a table top role playing game (ttrpg) 😂. This message brought to you by a seasoned DnD player of a decade 😅
@jjdoughboy210311 ай бұрын
To me its a scale of complexity from "board game" to " table top game" the more complex and intricate the more "table top" it becomes because there are quite a few "table top games" that use a board.
@kikukina11 ай бұрын
@@jjdoughboy2103 true. I'm my mind, board games are more a game that has a set board or pieces for a "board" to be made (like Betrayal at the House on the Hill or the Fall Out game they played on NYE). With DnD, there is a lot more flexibility with if a DM/GM wants a board, or in most cases a play mat, or in *very rare* settings, 3D printed pieces to make a scene/whatever pieces the crew in Critical Role use for their maps. No two Game Master or Dungeon Master uses the same pieces or sets up spaces the same unless following a module (something my own GMs haven't used since we've been playing homebrewed games). I have played several games either just theater of the mind, though, so in my mind DnD falls into the "ttrpg" category

I am just... not a fan of the TTS thing with Zen. They're nice, I like them, but it just feels a lil _too_ impersonal, ya know?
@Atlaskel11 ай бұрын
I feel the same way. I feel like everyone is trying to include zen, and that's cool, but all it does is delay conversations
@Maxx-yp2zd11 ай бұрын
I agree. One of the best things about the people in this group is the jokes they make but she can't do that like they can with the delay in TTS and not being able to shout or be "angry" or have a different tone. Some of the stuff Larry says in Among Us can come across as whining or complaining but with the tone he uses you can tell he isn't serious and quite often it comes across as funny but if that was TTS I would just think he is complaining and bitching. No hate to Zen but I just don't like TTS.
@irishjet268711 ай бұрын
100% agree. TTS for donation comments is one thing, but for me, having that computer voice as a "member" of the group is slightly unsettling. Worse, Zen can't really participate in the conversations. There's too much lag, they can't emote, and the cold voice makes quips sound harsh when I don't think they mean it that way. It just doesn't work, IMO.
@VanessaMagick11 ай бұрын
literally anything happens and Zen says "oh my god" 10 seconds later in a flat monotone voice i wouldn't mind it if it was purely informational, but for these games the group plays where there is a massive social focus, it just doesn't really work
@Maxx-yp2zd11 ай бұрын
@@irishjet2687 and the cold voice makes quips sound harsh when I don't think they mean it that way. Just look at how often Tay gets pissed and says something nasty to especially Speedy and Side you can always tell by the tone of her voice she isn't actually pissed off and she is just joking about what she says but with that TTS it would come across as very harsh and you wouldn't know if she was really joking or not. Some of my favourite people in the group are Tay, Pasta, Courtilly, Speedy, Side, Tom, Chilled and of course Jeremy because of what they say and how they say it but with TTS you wouldn't get that. Part of what makes this group so good is the outrageous stuff they say and the others reaction to it but with TTS you don't get those reactions and what they say part of what makes it so good is the delivery that you don't get with TTS. When Jeremy says something funny and shoots himself out in a meeting just wouldn't be as funny with TTS and with the delay it just wouldn't work properly with timing the delay with the shooting or someone could start talking at the time the TTS triggers and you wouldn't hear what is said. You also have to be careful about when you talk. With Among Us quite often there are people talking about the body they found and at the same time other people are talking about something different and it works because people can easily repeat a sentence or raise their voice when needed but with TTS it won't because of the delay it takes a bit of time to simply repeat a sentence and they can't raise their voice so the other conversation would drown them out. I don't have a problem with Zen playing with the group again. For me it is like she isn't even there because she doesn't talk much and I usually don't listen or pay attention to her not because of Zen herself but because I have been ignoring TTS donations for the last 4 years I have been watching Twitch. I think she would work better with smaller groups and in Jackbox I thought she was fine although it did take me a bit of time to realize the TTS was Zen and that was only when other people reacted to her before that I thought for a while it was just people in chat using the TTS with donations.
