What stories were told to children in the Middle Ages?
"Doolin of Mainz" is a fascinating work that transports us into a world of chivalry, bravery and heroic quests. Follow the adventures of Doolin, an emblematic character, in his quest for justice and honor.
In this first part of Doolin's childhood, the young boy faces a dramatic turning point. Following the disappearance of his father, Count Guy de Mayence, during a hunting trip, traitors seize the family castle. Luckily, Doolin escapes these usurpers and is forced to survive in isolation in the woods. During this time, he grows up and acquires the strength he needs to one day claim his rightful inheritance. His childhood is marked by preparation for the moment when he can reclaim his father's home and avenge his mother and brothers.
This initiation tale, like many others in medieval literature, mixes historical elements with fiction and fantasy, and features classic themes of chivalry such as honor, bravery and courtly love.
