i always liked Doolittle more than Surfrer Rosa. They straightened all the curves and smoothed out the rough edges. But kept the rawness. They just added incredible production to it. Every song is great but some songs have a great groove to them. The bass, the drum, the guitar and the vocals.

I want you to keep listening to the Pixie, wether or not you post reactions. Bossanova is probably their most cohesive both musically and thematically and Trompe le Monde has a few of their all time best tracks. While most Pixies fans would probably agree that Doolittle was the high point the next two albums have plenty to offer.

Hello Tony! Sigue a delante!!!

Mr.bungle is a guilty pleasure of a band like Primus and the pixies. But i think all 3 bands over a different value, like the pixies offer some sillinness thrashy while still trying to be catchy poppy then Primus is heavy and funky and amazing bass. And mr.bungle is just bizarre and insanely creative and Schizophrenic

Very nice review! Bossanova is a bit of a turn, in that it is an even more polished surf album. It is very different from their other records, so it ends up a bit of an anomaly, and that's why you don't hear about it much. It's a very good album on its own merits, with some excellent songs. Tromp la Monde after that turns back to the more familiar Pixies formula.

The reason Doolittle sounds more polished is because it was produced, unlike Surfer Rosa, which was engineered only. Also, the breathing and cooing in Tame is sex.

I'm very happy to see this! I think that was yet another entertaining, and apt review for _Doolittle._ There are times when I also think that _Silver_ might have worked better as the closing song, but _Gouge Away_ always ends up winning me over again. Not an easy choice, though. The album is an interesting ride, isn't it? Something I love about it is that they go new places on it, while not leaving behind the distinctness of what they were doing before. I think that holds true for the albums _Bossanova_ and _Trompe Le Monde_ as well. Don't get us wrong just because we didn't clamor over them to the same degree. They're great, and very interesting, and likely not where you might expect them to go, though you may find something about each of them that takes more warming up to in some cases. I believe you'd be doing yourself a great disservice if you skipped reviewing them, and I really want to find out what you'll think of them. Even just from _Doolittle,_ you make it clear that you can already see there's a lot to offer from the raw and the more polished Pixies, so, please, continue on with this.

I love the Pixies, as a teen I was very into their first three albums but I was too cool for their poppier stuff...for a couple of years. It’s like that when you’re 16 and trying to define who you are and who you’re not. And I was *definitely* not pop. ;) In a way the Pixies being so all over the place probably helped break me out or that mindset.

Doolitle is a very clean album that manages to perfectly balance Pixies' aggresion and beatiful writing, however, for me personally, nothing beats Steve Albini's production of Surfer Rosa, especially when you listen to it on an LP. But it's apples and oranges. Surfer Rosa puts you in the same room with the band, whereas Doolitle creates this surrealist dreamspace. Both are 5/5 albums for me.

Hey tony i genuinely think and dare you to react to Mr.bungle first record, mr.bungle is one of the most experimental rock bands lol if you can survive their first record you should do their second record which their fans say is more experimental but their first record seems to follow a theme of ska and carnival music lol their second record is more abstract and everywhere from metal to rock to jazz to etc but their first record bounces from so many styles like their second album but their first album tries to have a consistent theme to their sound. I cant name a band thats more experimental then them they mixed over 38 genres into their 3 albums.
