People in comments dont seem to understand what TAS means in the title. This is a tool assisted speedrun (TAS) meaning it was played with a variety of modifiers. Judging by the way they dodged the mancubus shots flawlessly it was likely using a combination of slow motion, frame-by-frame slow motion and save state abuse (reloading on death to continue a few frames before where they died). It's still very difficult to pull off but feel like tas needs to be clarified for the newbies.

@spinningchurro4 жыл бұрын
LotsOfBologna2 : you need to familiarize yourself with speed running. The title says TAS, which stands for Tool-assisted Speedrun. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tool-assisted_speedrun IIRC he only uses slowdown, he still does all the movement and I don’t think he has it so he’s incapable of dying, that would take all the challenge out of it and that’s not what this guy is about.
@MightyBug9993 жыл бұрын
@@spinningchurro NVM you explained it to em we good here
@reloadpsi3 жыл бұрын
@@LotsOfBologna2 Basically he narrowly avoided hits. That's the beauty of watching TAS; you learn new things about the game's mechanics :) My favourite example of this is in SMB1 runs where the player appears to never take damage from piranha plants. In reality, they're just exploiting the funny way their hitboxes work; at the very apex of Mario's jump, he appears to pass harmlessly through their lips, but once you see it done, you try it and realise you can do the same thing in normal play. TAS is an incredible opportunity to learn new ways to get better at games.

THE PLACE, HEAVEN, BASICALLY WASN'T TRAVERSABLE BY ANYONE BUT GOD IN MORE WAYS THAN I CAN COUNT OUT FOR YOU, AND IT STILL FUNCTIONED JUST FINE, BUT MAN DID PEOPLE HAVE TO NAVIGATE IT FUNNY. THERE WAS WAYS HELL AND/OR THE ABYSS WAS MORE BEARABLE, AT LEAST IN MY RECKONING- KARL MARX: I'VE BEEN MEANING TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT THAT- SIHA: OKAY, TALK ABOUT IT. [SITS DOWN, FROM A SITTING POSITION.] KARL MARX: NEVERMIND, IF YOU'RE GONNA DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT. SIHA: I GUESS I'LL SIT HERE, BORED ... [IS FALLING ASLEEP.] KARL MARX: YOU'LL WAKE UP A NEW MAN. WHAT WITH THE THINGS YOU JUST IMPLICITLY STATED, WHO KNOWS WHAT WILL BE SAID TOMORROW?

I've seen ALLOT of levels of Doom.. including this one - but, Damn! I've never seen THIS MANY enemies on screen at one time! That's amazing. Pretty damned impressive for that time. That was pushing the most powerful systems to their limits. Not, just the amount of enemies, but the speed and frame rate. If I was to have seen this back then, it would have given a strong indication as to what was coming and just how powerful systems were at that time. I've sent this level but I wasn't sure if it was a mod that was added like Final. Final is a collection of mods but good enough for id to endorse and Midway to publish. But this? This is insane! My eyes are watering trying to watch all of this. It's pretty apparent that this was the dos version because of the '16 bit' like music but impressive just the same! Awesome run!

It hurts to watch him ruin all BFG hit scans, apparently he still doesn't know how it works. He also played in a slowed-down version and then increased the speed.

I'm questioning myself if it would be even possible to run it like this in 1994 on pentium 133/166Mhz.. i think the response is known to all of us already

I know that this is running on modern hardware but it's impressive this engine can handle this many mobs at one time.

I would kill to rewind to 2006 me and my 3 friends would link up all of our computers and do 4 person coop. Which occasionally turned into a death match lol.

someone put up a 3 lives survival with this map a couple of years ago. I stated with other 4 ppl. ofc during the caco invasion i died . But I kept watching for 4 hours as the rest of the players went through this mess of a map. the last player died with those revs at 2:34:00 ... worst 4 hours of my life :c
