To those confused thinking that we already had modern ports of these games, these are Nightdive remasters so the games are running on KEX instead of Unity. This remaster also has Boom support (the previous Unity versions had DeHackEd support, I'm fairly certain that this was kept), and it has an Id Vault containing information about some of the beta content for the original games which would make a lot of Doom nerds happy. The best part is that if you already owned either Doom 1 or 2, you get this remaster for free.

The Legacy of Rust is by far one of the most insane levels I've seen. I've seen a Flame Thrower and a Crossbow as new additions. These modders are incredible, and they did a fantastic job making these old Doom games modern for newer generations to play.

Easily the best port of doom, if you already owned doom lets say on steam, you get this for free. It has extra content, including Legacy of Rust which is completely new, official multiplayer, community supported mods, remix soundtrack (which is personal preference, I think it's dope) and crossplay. Thank you Id Software/Bethesda! As a PS5/PS4 user who has over 1400 hours of total Doom playing time JUST on the PS4 version, giving us not only a new expansion in Legacy of Rust, but also the ability to download ANY wad that gets uploaded.....you couldn't have made me any happier haha. The ONLY problem.i have is there seems to be an issue with the enemies after you load up a save. So like lets say you're fighting in a room woth 30 enemies, you save and then you die and reload, a lot of times the enemies that were after you will no longer be, and instead will just wander around doing nothing until they get shot. Also i was playing Eviternity and in both maps 12 and 13 ot was impossible to beat because certain walls/pillars or whatever were supposed to lower and they didn't. I looked up someone else's playthrough of those levels and they did lower for them. It also happened in a gew other levels and not just in that Wad. Anyways, of those bigs get patched then I'd say this is by far the greatest Doom port ever!

Very cool music & menu overhaul, but: 1 - It doesn't support Brutal Doom, you still need GZDoom 2 - GZDoom have unlocked jump and unlocked camera angle and more crosshair options, vanilla Doom still doesn't 3 - I prefer Doom Metal Vol. 5 over Andrew Hulshult's remixes. Please add more music mods. As long as these three things won't be fixed, I don't know why i should prefer vanilla Doom over GZDoom

Just saw my Steam library updated with this. Downloaded it and played it. The new, updated music definitely still rocks, and the option of reverting back to the OG music is great as well. Oh the memories of myself and other college friends pitching in together to order the OG Doom on floppies and then playing it together on our college campuses Novell network. Fun times. I wouldn’t assume so, since modern Bethesda games have their mods direct through their modding service in-game (Skyrim, Fallout 4, Starfield). I believe it’s so that mods can be uniform across PC and Console. Surely we can still download and install mods manually but they may need to be updated for this new version of the game.

To get this close to the previous versions (that were great) you can remove the center dot of the sight and fix the sight to the "correct" size and colour the cross hair green and the auto aim cross hair to red in the options. You can also turn on Screen Flashing to get the hit red effect and blast illumination of previous versions back. You can also activate Retro Menu style with the classic red font. Unfortunately you get information in the middle of the gun on max screen size and that can't be altered so I prefer the second largest with complete hud. Blast away. I think this version is the best out there with higher rez, frames and the soundtrack. Now I just wait for GZ DooM/Brutal DooM to enter the console stage. Absolutely wonderful. Have a blast people!

There's a nice control scheme trick on the Switch version i found quite by accident. When playing in portable mode, when you physically turn, the game's POV automatically rotates with you for even more immersion.

I'm glad they finally added achievements for Classic DOOM, but personally I wish they also added steam trading cards & profile badges, profile backgrounds, and chat emotes and what not too, just like they did for Quake 2 last year... I also wish that, instead of just cramming DOOM 2 into DOOM 1/Ultimate DOOM/DOOM 1993, they could've just added achievements and what not to DOOM 2 separately so I could collect achievements and badges and what have you for both games respectively... I also, also wish they could add trading cards and badges and all that for DOOM 64 and DOOM 3 aswell... Idk I just love collecting those things...
