Carmack has said they made "Mega maps" for quake back in the day and they did tests with 100 players so yes. It should be possible :)

Zero-Master is still way faster on Nightmare with time of only 21:14 an all by himself. There was way too much of just fooling around here, it was more of a stroller party then a speedrun. :)
