Description:
This is a 21 second improvement over my previous record. Lost several seconds on map 06, 13 and 21 because I got pushed around too much from all the damage. A couple of mistakes like failing to get the rocket jump on map 07 first try and several smaller things too. (edit: nvm, the screen was so red I didn't even notice the mancubus hitting me on map 07, so that was bad luck too.)
A few new things since the last record, on map 27 I fire the BFG at the hellknight before I press the switch, and then I hope to cause infighting with the arch-vile. If I then go through the teleporter the arch-vile will remain in an idle state once it kills whatever it's infighting. So by opening the door to that area and getting down to the corner on the other side of him I can wake him up by firing and have him open the door several seconds sooner. It's a much bigger risk, but saves several seconds. I also do 2 rocket jumps on map 29, considering I exited with 24 health and I didn't make a single mistake I think it would be fair to say it's a bit crazy :)
I used Crispy Doom v3.2 sourceport when I made the demo (video is still prboom+), it's almost identical to chocolate\competition doom, but it has uncapped framerate so that I can stream at 60fps.

No matter how unlucky I get when I try to improve the time for doom 2 nightmare, I'll will never feel like the game has been unfair to me because of the absurd luck that is plutonia on nightmare :) I should upload a higher quality video of that demo some day... Not really that into uv-max for now, so very unlikely that will happen, but I might pick up a pwad if I find the time for it, I'll have a look at pl2 uv-speed as it looked interesting the last time I checked. Incredible as always. My favorite speedrunner delivers a doom 2 master class yet again. At the end of the level the chasm you do a running backwards thing and fly across the map to the exit. What are you doing there?

I was hesitant to comment, because I am not sure really how to ask this, but Is it possible that you can do runs of doom2, and plutonia and evolution on nightmare difficulty without using skips/rocket jumps. To put it more simply, can you beat the games on that difficulty, doing so the way ID software "intended," by collecting the needed keys? I ask you, because I think you are probably the best doom player I have ever seen, and I would be highly entertained watching you master these levels in such a manner. I am not sure if it is even possible to beat these levels the way ID intended on nightmare, but given how well you play, I think if anybody can do it, it would be you, so I asked lol. I don't care how long the video is, it would keep me entertained for hours. Thanks for maybe considering my request, or even reading my message.

I would recommend you go to the Doomed Speed Demos Archive (DSDA) and take a look at the demos there. Download a sourceport like prboom+, put the wad files (doom2.wad for example) in the folder and download the demos. Then you can for example watch the first doom 2 nightmare run by Panter in 49m49s or Hennings 29m39s run which was a record for a long time. As for Final doom, TNT hardly has any tricks already (they don't even make that much of a difference iirc), so that would be pointless. Plutonia will never be done without tricks on nightmare, though I plan to do levels 1-10,11-20 and 21-30 while grabbing all the secrets, so perhaps that might have a less unintended route.

Ah, thank you for the recommendation. I was not sure if it were possible or make a difference, but I thought I would ask because I found the Plutina and TNT runs highly entertaining. As an aside will you ever be doing megawad runs, or are you just going to stick to the regular games. I remember one of my favorite megawads being Requiem, and would love to see that done on nightmare (if its even possible with skips.) Anyway thanks for the recommendation, I will check it out, and keep doing entertaining doom videos, you have a knack for it.

I think the framerate might make it look a bit faster, the time of the video is almost 2 minutes longer than the ingame time. There is about 15 seconds of milliseconds added up from the 31 levels and intermission screen adds about 1:30.
