Doom II Music - scythe - Map 26 - Fear

Scythe was one of the first fan-made WADs I ever played through all the way, and when I arrived at MAP26 I was totally unaware of the existence of slaughtermaps. "Fear" was utterly unlike anything I had ever seen before; it sent me into such a panic that all I could do was laugh uncontrollably as I died over and over and over (having spent most of the invulnerabilities standing there dumbstruck at the sheer scale and absurdity of the whole situation). There are bigger and badder slaughtermaps than "Fear" (Speed of Doom's MAP28 comes to mind), but none of them will ever shake my very sanity the way this map did.

It was a shit slaughter map. Repeating the *exact same* Cyberdemon trio to guard all 3 keys is just a boring filler imo. Sunder was the 1st wad that made slaughter gameplay actually interesting

I just came here after watching Map 25 of BigMacDavis' walkthrough. Hearing Fear's theme is absolutely adrenaline rushing and the sound of the Cyberdemons ahead and Hellknights flanking you, watching 4 pain elementals about to open their own gates of hell, oh my my, this song, its great! If anyone could make a metal cover of this, I'd melt!

Correct! Map 23 Anger is “absence of light”, 26 fear is “a fool’s paradise”, and 29 Hell on Earth is “lady of the snow” (and it’s a snowy map, too!) BMD is a solid KZbinr

I agree... I have a core I3, 4Gb Ram and a standard intell onboard graphics card. and still had some issues like terrible lag

William A. Prboom shouldn't lag on this :P so that's recommended for slaughter maps

Just did this map today on Brutality, it was no joke. Black Hole Generator came in handy.

I think the only reason ppl like this map sm is because slaughter is the most popular genre in Doom. However the repetitive nature of copy & paste of the exact same treble cybie fight guarding all 3 keys was lazy design imo

This map contains of a high population of monsters and whenever I play this map, I always use God Mode.
