I don't think so because GOTY is impartial and evaluates things that DOOM doesn't necessarily have. Like story or deep characters, but when it comes to gameplay, level design and soundtrack DOOM performs above average. (average of GOTY's)

So Mick, Andrew, and David all said they aren't involved with this soundtrack. An interview from 2022 with Matt Heafy (of Trivium) said he wanted to score the next DooM game and this has a very Matt Heafy vibe to it. I wonder if that is what is happening?

Everyone knows why, but that doesn't mean we wouldn't like him to return. We obviously know that probably will never happen, but the new Doom music isn't Doom enough without him. I think Andrews music (I think this is Andrew) fits this game more than it did in TAG do to this one being more brutal and aggressive, but still.

People are seriously sleeping on Andrew Hulshult, he's made metal metal songs for doom clones that started the boomer shooter resurgence trend

His music is way to djenty and brutal to be Doom. Doom music is more focused on having a solid rhythm and melody and are mostly at a slower pace as to allow the player a chance to think without being annoyed by the music. While it makes more sense for this game to have something closer to Andrew's music since it's more slow paced and brutality based, it still just doesn't feel like Doom enough. I don't get how he managed to sound nothing like Doom music in his work for TAG 1 and 2 considering his work in Dusk was way more melodical and rhythm based.

@@averagemug Hulshult completely dropped the ball on Davoth by making bad design decisions, while Geoffrey Day followed Mick Gordon's standing design ethos that he used for both games before he got fucked over and ousted by Marty Stratton. Geoff's Fall of Davoth is an absolutely godly track, and the fact that it's probably at best only 80% of what Mick would've delivered for the true final boss fucking destroys me inside, man. Think of what could have been.... Maybe Hulshult can redeem himself with this game, but I'll always be furious at Marty for what he cost us and let down by Andrew for what he didn't deliver after I'd had so much faith in him as a potential series composer based on his prior work.
