A father-son dynamic has the potential to be a masterpiece if written well. Assassin's Creed III is an example. God of war is another.

​@@TheMandaloreFettif they included the events of Lazarus island and the death of Alfred as history lore in the setting then they could have used that as the catalyst for Damien to change for the character development of him gaining the empathy he did but also the drive to fight for Gotham in honour of him. Not to mention it could serve as the reason for why bruce passes along the mantle knowing that he can't go forever and takes up the role Alfred used to have knowing that the next batman is going to need an "Alfred" of their own so to speak. Throw in a character development arc for Damien of his struggling to be the brutal batman his father has become and a scene where he has the chance to kill an older bane for killing Alfred but instead takes away the last of his venom. After that have Bruce realise that he has to trust Damien to make his own way with flashbacks to Alfred doing the same for him so Bruce gives the player a new fresh badass suit to accompany the new resolve that Damien has about what kinda batman he is going to be as he races of to track the big bad.

They could have also used Terry if they feared a backlash due to the hatred towards Damian, and you keep your father-son dynamic in the game. Heck, you could even keep Damian as part of the plot, with him taking hold of the League of Assassins, and come somewhere in the story for revenge towards Bruce for killing his grandfather and mother, and also towards Terry replacing him. There's many many ways to circumvent the problems, but ultimately, you won't know if you don't try.
