Doomsday HQ - DOOM High Resolution pack + Download Links

Heres a little presentation of Doomsday HQ ,one of the best doom/heretic frontend.It has support for add-ons such as high resolution pack ,3D models pack and HQ sound and music pack.

Installation of Doomsday is really simple (you will need the games WAD tho),all the steps for the add-ons installation are detailled in its download page.

I will NEVER understand why everybody think 3d looks better than 2d. I'd rather have 2d sprites that look like classic, fine retro stuff than fugly ultra low poly and ugly textures, n64 tier models.

Yeah i agree. I would like to see a Doom Remake, that remakes the Stages in real 3D while increasing the Textures to very HQ ones and ...leave the Monsters in 2D ... just redrawn in either HQ or in a Pre-Rendered style. Somehow it doesn't fit to Doom to have 3D Monsters ... especially shitty n64 polygons that not have real textures but only colors.

You like the original look because you were a kid/teen when the game was released. Because of this your brain has learned to associate happiness of youth with shitty sprites: seeing shitty sprites makes your brain give you bursts of dopamine. I get it, C64 music does the same thing to me. It's all in your head, friend.

3D can look good... If done right. These weren't. I think Chillo is the guy to call for 3D doom models. Keeping everything low-poly and pixelated to fit with the simple geometry and low res textures. Look him up on twitter, he made some really good looking Blood models, like almost 1 to 1.

The most funny thing about this is that the animations lost a lot of detail. But hey, it's 3D+HQ! Quake on drugs :D

I dont think so ,maybe because the 3D models contained in the pack are made for the sprites of the original WAD and not for the Brutal Mod sprites. Hope that helped you.

I wish the enemies could be animated with less frames. The smooth animation looks strange for Doom. It's fine for me in Quake. Just not Doom.

I'm trying to set up Doomsday with the high resolution packs. but for some reason it does not load high resolution weapons and elements in the world i.e. dead bodys and barrels. is there something I am doing wrong?

Ok, whilst the 3D does look good. I prefer 2D sprites. If something perfect is going to be made even more perfect. Then at least perfect that. And at least make HD maps! The high rez models on original doom maps looks so ugly!
