Hi Phillip, the door is looking good with the new skin on it. Should be good for another 90 years when you are done!

There's nothing worse than sand blasting, and having nothing left. That might be what happens when I blast my quarter panels HAHA.

cold its 4.4 degrees here in the great midwest

That's ridiculous! it's going to be 17 here tonight which is very unusual for us.

@@phillipshotrodgarage it was -12 saturday night here, had to throw a 2nd blanket on the bed
@phillipshotrodgarage10 ай бұрын
No sir! That's not for me! We would have been under a second blanket long before -12 in Alabama. We aren't used to that LOL.

Very nicely done Phillip, can’t find any faults there at all. That’s going to be a nice solid door once your all done. I won’t tell you what the temperature is at where I am but hoping spring and warmer weathers not too far away. Keep warm and have a great rest of the week!
@phillipshotrodgarage10 ай бұрын
It's a lot easier to get work done when it's warm! I love spring time! Hope this cold moves on through pretty quick. Have a great remainder of the week yourself friend!

That's just way too cold for me! I went to Canada once. It was in January of 2002. I went to Woodstock Ontario, and it was the coldest I've ever been!

@@phillipshotrodgarage ya well next week minus 4 can't keep up keep up the good work on your doors what gauge you use to finish them off ? Thanks again later
@phillipshotrodgarage10 ай бұрын
I'm not sure the gauge. I bought the panels from Howell's sheetmetal, but I haven't measured them.

No, Eastwood isn't a sponsor, but they need to be LOL! I was just showing what I was using, and I was using what I had laying around. I started to use some Rustoleum HAHA!

I had the same issue with Eastwood's rust encapulator lid, I ruined it and had to get a new can for the leftover paint.
@phillipshotrodgarage10 ай бұрын
@jeffreyhecht6512 My guess is they put this deep lid on there so the cans can be shipped without risk of the lid popping off.
@jeffreyhecht651210 ай бұрын
No doubt you had a good reason but why did you sand blast the whole door?
@phillipshotrodgarage10 ай бұрын
I am going to go ahead and repair the other side the same as I did this one, then blast them both at the same time. Then I'll be able to take them both into the paint booth and epoxy them freshly blasted and clean. I just hate to blast and clean metal and leave it unprimed for long periods of time. I figured with the time this door with be in bare metal while I'm repairing the other side, It would probably need to be redone. So, blasting both at the same time so I can go straight to primer is the main reason why I only blasted the repair area. I like to use phosphoric acid to keep metal from rusting while I'm working on it, but its not recommended to use it under epoxy, so I need to leave it bare.
@fredjones123810 ай бұрын
where did you get the blaster from ?
@phillipshotrodgarage10 ай бұрын
A friend gave it to me a couple of years ago. I think he bought it from Eastwood.
