The festival is associated with the deity Jagannath held at the city of Puri in the state of Odisha, India. During the festival, the three deities (Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra) are pulled in three massive, wooden chariots to Gundicha Temple whereby they reside there for a week and then return to the Jagnannath temple.

রথযাত্রা ২০২৪ : ৭ই জুলাই বাংলা ভাষ্য সহ পুরী থেকে লাইভ দেখুন শুধুমাত্র ডিডি বাংলায় সকাল ৯টা থেকে দুপুর ২টো পর্যন্ত ।
এই উৎসবের সময় তিন দেবতাকে (জগন্নাথ, তার ভাই বলভদ্র এবং বোন সুভদ্রা) তিনটি বিশাল, কাঠের রথে গুন্ডিচা মন্দিরে টেনে আনা হয় যেখানে তারা এক সপ্তাহ অবস্থান করেন এবং তারপরে জগন্নাথ মন্দিরে ফিরে আসেন।
