Mawlynnong is a popular tourist Village, giving visitors a feel of the khasi way of life, through the numerous homestays and eat joints. Nohwet a nearby Village houses one of the oldest Living root Bridge, and is itself a model village with traditional houses and a trditional lifestyle. Visitors can also get a panoramic view of Bangladesh from Nohwet.

The real coverage of Mawlynnong village begins from 10:45 mins, prior to which are some other tourist places. The traditional house of Khasi villagers are really astonishing to see... But sad to know that not many of them remain now. Also how do these traditional houses manage during the rains??

Mawlynnong had not been affected by the rain like in Sohra. Houses in Sohra since those times were buit with solid rocks and thatch roofs which they change every now and then.
