Byomkesh Bakshi: Ep#17 - Necklace

Watch Byomkesh Bakshi's seventeenth episode 'Necklace'. Byomkesh Bakshi is a fictional detective in Bengali literature created by Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay. He is one of the most successful and popular characters in Bengali literature.
Doordarshan now brings to you the entire series of this literary classic which was televised back in 1993 directed by the brilliant Basu Chatterjee. Actor Rajit Kapur played the role of Byomkesh Bakshi, for which he was highly praised. Ajit was played by K.K. Raina and Satyaboti was played by Sukanya Kulkarni who was the first actress to play the character.

This serial gives me a strange kind of relaxation. It takes you back to an era where life was simple and unhurried. The clothes, the dialogues . I love it all. My regret is that Basu chatterjee didn't make 50 or 60 episodes. And there was no need to state the year and show byomkesh ageing.

Finally in the 17th episode, I saw a Beautifully potrayed Bengali women - Uma! She looks so pretty in that saree with those ornaments. Byomkesh's wife is beautiful, too. But she doesn't wear attractive clothes. Overall, this episode is the best one till now when it comes to camera and voice quality.

Dude!.. OK I got to say this.. I hv seen nearly each and every depiction of Sherlock Holmes by now... And I jst love Sherlock Holmes' all stories and novels.. And want to see more of it every time.. But the problem is that, they have failed to manufacture a true Sherlock Holmes digital version.. All I can see is a crazy guy who loves to Embarrass ppl in general by asking them personal questions and not making any sense... They always ruin his character... But THIS... I mean when I see this character wearing a dhoti and a kurta ... Throwing appealing handsome stares (see 'vansh ka khoon') while cross questioning ppl and not knowing literally how cool and smart he is (but also knowing 😉) being straight and focused.. But also detached.. ( hamein kya lena dena.) dude.. Do I really have to pronounce.. Like F yeah he is the guy who is actually playing Sherlock Holmes' character ! This TV serial specially Rajit's acting as Vyomkesh.. Is not as popular as RDJ's Sherlock Holmes.. But I can bet.. Acting wise Rajit has overpowered RDJ.. For detective roles... And. Yeah... If he ever got to become.. He could have been the best Sherlock Holmes the world has seen.. Bcoz guys.. This guy has literally played word to word sherlock holmes character as it should have been.. Like who wouldn't agree?? In one of the episodes.. He himself remarks on himself that he was called Sherlock Holmes in his school days by his class mates.. Yeah guys our vyomkesh is a fan of Holmes. OK good.. But he could be Holmes.. And may be many actors are sitting in our industry who would be f**ing glad to bring a true Sherlock Holmes character on the screen.

It's just that I am impressed so much by AC doyle's sherlock version ( the book one) that I find those movie and serial adaptations that make him so much different than original.. Unacceptable. Have you seen 'Sherlock Holmes the case of silk stockings'... I think that Sherlock is a little bit acceptable for me.

No the original writer is a Bengali famous writer sharadindu bandyanpadhay and he wrote all the stories in a book and these are Bengali stories and they are just making the serial.
