It’s so dumb we can be rated or reported by customers and restaurants but we can’t rate customers and restaurants. It would be so helpful to see customer ratings to help you pick better orders with friendly people

Man ain't that the truth I had one order where she wouldn't answer the phone to buz me in I finally got in after sending her a message with her food by the door and she got mad at me because I was going to leave it on the floor. Like are you seriously mad that I was not going to stand there with no communication for 20 minutes and no way in? If the neighborhood had not let me in it show nuf was bout to be on the floor.

1 tip that I believe really helps with your rating. I literally always type. "enjoy and have a great night!" and my rating went up. I had zero rating after a couple dozen deliveries now I'm at 5.00

I started off keeping a great customer rating. Then once I learned the ropes my rating started going down and I was doing nothing wrong. I started to panic about getting deactivated and just couldn't figure things out. I didn't know what my customers wanted from me since we can't see feedback. And the bad feedback came from the urban areas,with my own people. Feedback should be visual. We should know what customers think we did wrong so we can fix it. Finally after talking to a seasoned worker I concluded I didn't smile and talk to the customers enough. They don't want you bouncing around like a clown or holding them up with long drawn out conversations as if y'all are buddies. However, they seem to want you somewhere in the middle. They want a happy smile on your face as if you just LOVE LOVE LOVE serving them as if it's an honor. And they like it when you make small talk "How's your day going? I made sure to give you extra napkins. Your food is good and hot. I hope you have a fantastic rest of your evening and enjoy your meal". To me that is just too much and fake. I feel a hello and thank you have a nice day" should suffice. But once I start making a lil small talk with a big smile on my face, my ratings started going back up. So much for a $3.50 run. I realized when I first started I was nervous and awkward and would explain that I was new. The customer would be sure to rate me 5stars out of empathy I guess but once I stopped the small talk and got strictly business they felt I didn't give it a personal touch of my character. Or I didn't kiss their butt lol.. I guess..either way it seemed a bit weird or egomaniacal because the ones that don't tip or always the ones harshest with the ratings. You have to really do wrong to make a top tipper leave negative feedback. So it makes me feel it's really a reflection of 'their'personality and what they got going on in 'their' lives. They feel pleasure in being able to assault you in your ratings because they're unhappy with themselves. Maybe I'm overthinking but it almost cost me my job so it's worth acknowledging and getting a handle on. I just wonder if anyone else experienced that?

I always make sure to make eye contact with the customers when I hand them order. Most of the time, upon doing so, I can see their demeanor instantly change and they usually become more personable in the way they communicate. I've also had customers come to the car to get the order and there are multiple bags or drinks so I politely ask if they want me to help them by carrying the extra bag or drinks to their door and they often say yes. It's my job after all. This simple act has resulted in getting 5 star reviews I also am thinking about putting together small bags with mints, candy, gum, or toothpicks, and a business card with slogans like "Treating Your Kindly" or simply saying "Thank You" with my name. I just have to make sure to buy items that are sealed so they trust that the items haven't been tampered with. It's amazing how the little things make a big difference.

A little tip that can also help.If you're doing a "leave at my door" order and you have no others upcoming, take your time going back to your vehicle. The customer usually comes out and says "thanks" and you can say "you're welcome." . And if they don't come out right away, wait at your vehicle until you get an order. They'll get their food and see you were considerate enough to watch their order.

But even if you dont have the address in the pic, at least a pic of their front door.. then I think dd asks them to submit a pic of their doorway cause I had this happen before and there was no address but you could clearly see whether or not it is their house.

Here is another reason you can get deactivated. I recently became a target of a sting operation while delivering 6 pack beer. Why these undercover police officers would target an innocent Doordash driver is beyond me. I'm a single mom trying to make a living. I have no criminal record whatsoever and I don't even drink. I had 5 - 6 undercover officers surround me before I had a chance to even notice the text message from Doordash telling me not to leave the alcohol with the customer. When I scanned the ID, I had the approval from my DD app to proceed with the completion of the order. Even though I tried to explain the situation to the officers, they still cited me with a ticket to show up in court three months from now to tell my side of the story. I was an innocent driver trying to make $6.25 for this particular order but ended up being a target a bad sting operation. Things got worse for me when I tried to contact DD for some support. When I contacted DD, they told me they were going to escalate the case to their legal team and that they will get back to me within 24 hours. Four days went by before somebody finally got back to me. He asked me to explain what had happened and asked me to email him a copy of the citation for their record. He promised to keep in touch and told me again that somebody from the legal team will be contacting me. Thirty minutes after I emailed him a copy of my citation, I received an email from DD telling me that my account has been deactivated. I was shocked beyond belief. Instead of getting help from the company I worked so hard to deliver over 3000 deliveries in less than 6 months with a 4.98 driver rating, I was left hanging high and dry. I was shocked and felt betrayed. Doordash is not a company you can trust. They will not support you in any way but instead will throw you under the bus if anything happens even though it's no fault of your own.

It's crazy how the law enforcement would try to target a helpless delivery driver who's just following instructions. Lesson learned is don't expect DD to assist you with any help if you get in trouble and don't take orders with alcohol. It's not worth it.

Great channel, I’m still waiting on my activation kit to be mailed out, I’m currently a uber eats driver. I love to do research and enjoy a good presentation. I’m also a DIY mechanic, took a week off to replace my exhaust. It broke while making a delivery. I kept a emergency maintenance fund that helped me out tremendously. I’m back with a much quieter car.

Not dashing much lately due to rude customers and restaurant staff. They take advantage of the fact they can rate you. I had restaurant employees curse at me. I don't have this issue on other food delivery APPs. The ratings creates an adversarial relationship. Image a restaurant server being rated by each.customer they serve along with the kitchen also rating them on each order they place and pick up. I see why Doordash cannot keep drivers. I am very bitter right now due to this which is why I haven't been dashing. Doordash ratings and how they are implemented border on employee and employer relationships. They do not address the why of the rating. What you've described is not an independent contractor relationship especially given that the contractor controls how the task is done. That is not for Doordash to control. One of the litmus tests for employee versus contractor is not just how much supervision but, if there's supervision. With contractors there can be no supervision. A barber (hairdresser) renting a chair in a barbershop is an independent contractor. The barbershop has no say in the relationship between that barber and his/her customers. The barbershop also has no say in the interaction between the barber and product supplier merchants (restaurants).

E Walker agreed, they can ensure their customers are receiving ample service without CR. There is no safeguard against malicious or unscrupulous individuals baselessly giving out 1 stars to diminish a dasher’s rating. These company’s treat CR as a de-facto performance report. At-least at a 9-5, only your superiors could evaluate you and that was periodically e.g quarterly, semi-annually or annually. Here it’s every single contact with a customer and it carries the same weight, it’s quite terrifying when you think about it. Not to mention the effect the rating has on the psyche on the dasher-doing everything right, being conscientious to go above and beyond and yet and still your rating takes a tumble, it can be demoralizing. They should abolish the star rating system but still have an area where customers can leave valid comment or criticism, and allow us to view it to consider it. That’s just my 2 cents.

My good friend was suddenly deactivated for “misuse of red card”… no explanation as to how, or what transpired. He filed an appeal and they rejected it, saying “under the independent contractor bylaws”…. The coldest part to me is them not saying what he did, essentially robbing him of any opportunity to defend himself…

The instructions said something like “put the food by the door not in the chair!” and I thought it was silly. You do a very good service Thank-you I've had 25 deliveries over 1 week. I made 2 big mistakes I won't make again vmy phone battery went dead by over looking that need. The second and last was delivering to the wrong address. Because the app said I arrived. And instructions said leave at my door. There were no visible address numbers. Door dash called and I retrieved the goods and took it doors up to the exact right place. To avoid these issues. I got binoculars to read house numbers with. And I will look up Google maps to see a picture of the exact delivery location. My rating is 4,00. So I hope it goes up. I'm getting a pizza carrying bag. And a hat. That's my door dasher experience. I've had food that was delivered that was either clearly tampered with, drinks that showed signs of someone else drinking from them, or packages with the attempt to steal its contents. I've heard the kids in the back seat of dashers complaining that they didn't get to eat my order as was promised to them. I've had deliveries where the name or vehicle that was supposed to arrive be entirely the wrong gender, name, or make of vehicle. I even had a door dasher get stuck in my driveway after I purposely told them not to use the driveway. He drove off the edge of it getting his front wheel stuck in the soft soil. He got mad at me for ignoring my request that he not use it after he got stuck. It was cold and wet outside. I left it to him to get himself out of the problem he created. The next morning I woke up to multiple sets of tire marks dug deep into the soil all over my front yard that were covered with cardboard. I reported him to door dash and tried to get them to pay for the repairs. I never got compensation for the damage to the lawn.

Sometimes I get those customer directions to “ hand to the customer” and on the customers end it says “ leave at the door “ , I have stood outside someone’s house ringing the doorbell waiting to hand them their food only to be told to leave it at the door . Or I will be told to open a door and go upstairs and leave food at the upstairs door , one time that door would not open so I took a pic and left the food at the downstairs door , that customer tried to say I did not deliver the food ! Make sure to take a pic if the order says hand to customer but the instructions say leave at the door , the complete delivery won’t go to take a pic if the customers has a hand to customer on their instructions . Always take a pic in any cas just in case because they can de activate you if you can’t prove the food was delivered

Make sure you knock loudly (unless they say not to), don't leave their bags directly in front of a door that swings out, and be sure to text the customer at delivery with a picture of their bag at the door including the house number in the picture if possible.

Also, if any of those sealed bags were missing items and you got a 1 star for them, DoorDash will drop off your 1 star ratings from any merchant that seals their bags. It’s been 5 days since you posted this so you may have noticed your rating going up out of the blue.

I text the customers this message and ask before I get to them and my rating is high: Hi This is your Dasher Warren, The DoorDash app defaults for me to leave your order at your door would you like for me to do that or would you like it handed to you? NEW YEARS EVE for me in San Diego was a learning experience, DD's app was sending me 6-8 miles in an ineffective manner. Hence, can't compare it to working zones delivering Dominos. I was ordering people's food, lots of "this order hasn't been accepted" notices, waiting around for the food to be made, and they tried to send me into a supermarket after giving me two fast food orders/delivery. HOMIE DONT PLAY THAT INSTACART. HOMIE don't wanna be running up in high rises either when there ain't no parking on the block.

i was at a taco resturant a few months ago, I cant remember if it was taco bell or something else but anyway I ordered food to go, and i dont know if it was a door dasher or uber eats or whatever-whatever but he walks in, goes up to the cashier looks him dead in the eye and says hurry up I ain't got all day. At which point the cashier screams at him "THEN GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE IF YOU IN A RUSH" to which the driver stated "the whole world is in a rush man the earth is constantly moving now move your ass or ima have to bust it" that is when the manager standing behind the cashier leaped over the counter and began strangling the man with his bare hands So i stood up and broke up the fight at which point both the driver and the manager began kissing and making out and thats when I realized none of this actually happened so have a nice day

Went into a local pizza joint here to pick up an order and the wait staff saw me at the counter and ignored me for 9 minutes. I saw the dude eyeballing me from the back of the store, so they knew I was there. so I called the store from my phone while I was standing at the counter and they let the phone ring non stop for 6 minutes. so I yelled "CAN I GET SOME HELP?" finally some girl was like, sorry for the wait, can I help you? and I was like, wow uh I have a Doordash pickup? I've been waiting for almost 9 minutes and that guy over there just stared at me the whole time. then she said she was sorry and gave me the food which was sitting out getting cold the entire time I was there. fucking ridiculous

Marked a restaurant closed and took pictures for proof. Immediately got 2 more orders for the same restaurant, repeated the process. I didn't want to decline these orders and tank my acceptance rate, so I accepted them and had them canceled by marking the store closed. Marked the store closed 5 times. Of course, I was paid half the fee for these orders coming in to the closed restaurant. This is at about 800 deliveries, half a year as top dasher. Woke up the next morning to an email saying I had been deactivated for "fraud". What a joke. Their faulty app sending me rapid orders for a closed restaurant got me deactivated.

I was at 5.00 for my ratings but had a customer lie and tell DD that I didn't deliver their food. Now it dropped to 4.93. I got a contract violation with one rating of a 3. All my other ratings are 5s. Doesn't make sense. AND my delivery completion is 100%. I have never and would never take any one's food. If I couldn't deliver I would be calling support to figure out what to do. Sucks because I feel like its a permanent mark even though it fell off after 100 deliveries. There is no way to follow up with support about it either. Sucks that people with integrity and good work ethic, get the low end of things out here.

There's several reasons why one would unassign an order, a major one being that the restaurant is taking way too long to prepare it. If they told you that it was a 40 minute wait, would you really sir there? If you'd answer yes then that means you enjoy sitting and losing money. But like I said it can end up being several reasons, it just depends on your market. I'm in a smaller area so usually no reason to unassign, except for an order the other night where the McDonald's drive thru was packed out into the street.

For # 3: I have a confession. Recently I cussed out a customer for continuously giving us dashers bad ratings. Though I didn't do this directly because he never comes up to get the food himself, I am sure he got the message because I told the person that actually brought him the food this "And if this guy even thinks about giving me a bad rating, you can tell the S.O.B. to go out and get it himself. I don't know what is his problem but I guarantee you he has no right to make our lives hell when we work out butts off!" I may have paraphrased that a little but I work 2 jobs now and I can barely keep up on my bills. Getting those bad rating really brings me down.

Too funny. Stealing the food. I had one lady who told doordash that I did not deliver or stole the food. A violation. So I wrote a lengthy text to them proving I did: Track my GPS. Description of lady, children and house. Text messages on their app. Plus I have good allergies; wheat, peanuts, bacon, ect. She ordered Asian food with noodles made out of wheat. I would be home for several days if that happened. Always dispute violation when you know you're right. Most of the times it is that they want free food. 😱

479 deliveries in and 4.56 customer rating that hasn't changed since i started. seems to only drop when certain customers request cigarettes or beer on the way. I always ignore those special request . " Sorry but no way to verify age and Door Dash is a food delivery service" is what i always tell them when i hand of their delivery. some folks need to knock that shit off and Door Dash needs to address that growing issue with customers

Is there a way for us to report if a restaurant worker or customer harassed us? Waiters in particular seem to be pretty bad about out right ignoring dashers, I've been told its because they don't get tips from us. There have been a few incidents like this at certain sit down restaurants around my town. One was so bad that the two waitstaff running it straught up told us (not just door dash, every 3rd party delivery person... there were 3 of us from different companies) to wait there, then proceeded to make their rounds and even seated several people who walked in 10-20 min after us. I finally had to go ask one of the guys making sushi if he had a moment to check if my curry order was ready in the kitchen. He went in and came out to tell me it was cold in its bag and quickly redid the order for me. It had been waiting there longer then I'd been there. My customer was so grateful I stuck it out and communicated with them about what was happening they gave me a huge cash tip when I got the food to them, apparently several others had tried to get the order and also been ignored and then just unassigned. I've also had situations where the customer tries to hit on me and won't let me leave, if I try to politely decline or say I'm married, they call me prude or worse, then turn around and give me a bad review on doordash even tho their food is on time. Yet there's no way for us to contest this kind of crap?

Grubhub is taking their sweet time delivering me the card. The first week has been up so I haven't been able to deliver until I activate the card. I have been calling them. And I got an email a week and a half later saying thanks for confirming your shipping address, the card will be delivered Lol. Even though the address was confirmed a long time ago. Idk, still waiting though. But that first week that they allow before the card gets there, I was doing great.

I wish I saw this video before... was doing DoorDash and had a stacked order after I delivered one I realized they gave me wrong I was not going to drive back 6 miles to the restaurant and wait for the order to be remade just to get the person who ordered the food to yell at me for just 3$ so I contacted DoorDash and told them the whole situation and they were upset that I wouldn’t go back but they were understandable about the situation and I didn’t get in trouble for it... 😅

I had an delivery with g hub where I was unable to get a hold of the customer by phone or text and I had a gut feeling so I called driver support for help and they couldn't reach them as well about 20 after all was done I had given their food away as i was on a double delivery I was on to a whole new trip with uber when g hub called wanting to know if I still could deliver the food I said no and they called again 15 min later so I asked about deactivation they said I did everything right so always call support for help if they don't awnser

Here’s a my few tips for success : ( Be polite ) ( be prompt (Be prepared) Remember your ( Thankyou and welcome )it goes a long way . If you’re running late ( always Communicate) If you have an emergency ( text them and apologize for any inconvience to them . Lastly Remember to imagine , that you’re the one receiving the food , so think how you would feel if only half a sub showed up . Good luck dashing . Drive safe is key

Non delivery first happens when you are LATE TO THE MERCHANT TO PICK UP ORDER and second...if the customer actually really does make that claim. Drivers ALWAYS blame the customer and don't put two and two together of being late to pick up to begin with🙄

@@glitzyglam7827 Use an independent navigation app to look up actual location. Put in address given and search by name if it helps. If that fails, check if it has a web site. If it does, look for the address there; nesrest to where the Dasher app sent you if multiple locations.
I’m a newbie and I have two questions. 1. I had a situation where the restaurant employee said they couldn’t complete the order, but they packed up half of it. This was literally my 3rd delivery. I contacted doordash and the customer and the order was cancelled. The restaurant said they couldn’t take food back once it was handed over. In a situation like that, I assume keeping the food is okay? 2. There is a busy area next to a nice park I walk my dog at. I started dashing when it got busy and kept my dog with me, (it’s a small puppy.) Only one customer noticed and she loved it. Ended up giving me an extra 5 bucks cash. I’ve kept my dog in the car for the past week in case I might get more extra cash from dog lovers. Could I get penalized if someone complains about seeing a small dog in my car? Thanks! Love the advice!

You can report restaurants and customers directly to doordash. For instance there are several places I won't accept because of the employees inability to serve me. I have been told by owners we bring in 60-70% of their orders. In fact I get free french fries and soda. I also like to buy here and their when I pick up. I always get smiles for that. Or buy breakfast before going home. Get to know the people that work their. And that there are Karen's out there. 😱

I have been driving for DoorDash for 3 years and have often been a top dasher with my customer ratings at 4.8 or above along with numerous above and beyond comments about my service. DoorDash deactivated my account bc I was involved in a vehicle accident in Nov 2023 last week. Aug. 5th. I wasn't working for Doordash at the time of the accident, totaled my 2018 Mustang, and was cited for failure to maintain control. That is the basis for my deactivation. I can't understand why...on my time, in my vehicle, my insurance, and it's been almost a year since the incident. I've appealed the deactivation and am still awaiting the results of the appeal. Am I going to be deactivated forever? Doordash is the only gig type job available where I live. And not only was I a great dasher, but my customers obviously feel I was as well. And I really enjoyed doordashing. Is there any hope? What else can I do to convince Doordash to re-activate me?

If a customer makes you feel uncomfortable or safe. You can report them to doordash and explain why. They will not give you there orders anymore. I had a customer tell doordash that I was mean to them and refused to deliver. I called and told them the true story. They deactivated his account for harassment to a dasher. Unfortunately this only goes in favor of dasher who have great scores. If your making them alot of money and have good ratings. They will most likely take your side over one customer.

One thing that I hate every delivery app is that they do not tell you what the fuck you did wrong. Each app has a different way of delivering food: Uber usually don't require you to bring doorbell because of COVID and customers understand it. Doordash didn't seem to remind the customers. Anyway, I just start Dashing and do Uber. Both ratings did not score me well when I start but I manage to bring up Uber rating but not DoorDash. To this date, I don't know what the fuck I did wrong besides one case that I clearly forgot to check the order and the restaurant handing me the wrong food. One more thing, when I'm in trouble I can't call for help. Uber is somewhat easier than Doordash when it comes to contacting them for help but I never reach them. People, please! Other delivery people and I have to run in the scorching sun and thunderstorm just to deliver your food on time. Don't give us a 1 star or thumb down because of something that we can't control.
