I was on a continent with Hungary ended up making about 4-5 cities and took pretty much every wonder most of them were at my capital (btw I was playing Suleiman) while still leading in the domination category and for the record I hadn't been doing any military production since around 800-1000 AD just been upgrading my units and circulated them across the empire Edit: Forgot to mention this but by this time, it was the middle of the industrial era

Had my own private continent as England in civ VI, and I got Leif Erikson so I could cross ocean tiles way before anyone else. No enemy unit even managed to set foot on my continent, and it was surrounded by shipwrecks by the time I unlocked natural history, which I then used to archaeology-spam my way towards a culture victory.

Buy one or 2 city states, send trade routes between the city states and venice (food routes) to make 3 massive cities that work every tile. Doesn't matter that puppet cities focus gold, because they're still working the science specialists. The best part is due to double trade routes, those few food routes you're sending between cities wont dent your income for most of the game.
