That isn't the only place you can stay in the US where he lived. Right by there is the Alta Cienega Motel. It's room 32, he even mentions it in one of his poems as the Green motel. He lived there for 2 years around the time he recorded LA woman. It'd even shown in his film HWY. After there he moved to this residence. I stayed at the motel twice but haven't stayed here yet. Awesome you had the chance man.

This apartment belonged to Pamela Courson. Jim would come visit before they left for Paris in March 1971. The downstairs apartment belonged to publicist Diane Gardiner, a neighbor of Pams, where Jim did his last US interview with Rolling stone reporter Ben Fong -Torres in Feb. 1971. Dianes apartment was 8216 Norton Ave.

They did live together, and owned a dog together. I don't know why some people want to cast doubt on whether Jim lived here with Pamela, when it has never been a question.

Great video. You can feel Jim in the place. You can stay in a few places Jim lived or hung out in L.A. A cool tour of Jim Morrison places would be Venice Beach and Laurel Canyon.

The Venice Beach rooftop apartment would be extremely cool to see. Jim wrote most of the Doors' early songs there.

Someone posted a comment about this place on another Video and remarked that Most of the things that were from Jim Morrison's Time were replaced. but I was born and raised in Los Angeles and I can say with certainty that a lot of what I see in this footage looks pretty authentic for an early 1930's structure. I've seen a lot of (remodeled Buildings) which almost bought me to tears 😪

Im from Tacoma and I went to LA for the first time since 1969 when i was 13 in 2013. I walked the sunset strip at least a dozen times and about all that happened was I was given the Evil Eye when I walked by the chateau marmont by the security guard there. Other than that nothing. On a Saturday night. The strip in little old Tacoma Washington had way more action.

+kathy mccullough The interior set up of the house is most likely exactly the same. With the exception of the paint, everything looks to be pre-1970. The home was built in 1932, and it looks like it had a remodel done in the mid sixties, as the kitchen and bathroom tile are from that era and the windows, doors and even the handles on the "pull open" windows( you can see one over the bed) are from then, unless they were replaced with replicas ( the handles ) but, the doors and windows are original from the era ( pre-1970 ) The cabinetry also appears to be from that era. In my opinion, that house has not had an update since the 60's, at the latest, and it is obvious that no remodel has been done that changed the floor plan since it was built, as evidenced by the size of the one bathroom and the dimensions of the "bedroom". The only remodeling has been to update tile and counters, bring wiring up to code, etc, and was most likely done in the 60's. So, if you go stay there, probably will get the whole "Jim experience" lol. Don't forget 8021 Rothdell Tr, known as "The Love Street", another of his houses that he stayed at and the Canyon Country Store in the same intersection, many stories about that store with much more than just Jim!

The oak floors are also original. The apartment was being re-modeled in 2005 when I stayed there; the owner Cherie has extensively renovated the whole building since then is my understanding. She was selling the Spanish tile from the steps and bathroom tiles, door fixtures, etc online for several years.

Nobody mentions the house he had on N. Kings Road near the Continental Hyatt House (AKA - the "Riot House"). Tony Funches mentions it briefly but I still don't know where the exact address is.

It's my understanding that the house was purchased by the Doors' accountants as an investment. Not sure if Jim stayed there or even knew about it.

This house is like for poor people .... Where is the he money ??? This guy earn ? That's not a mansion .... My house is more luxury than that
@xfhghe2 жыл бұрын
Right, not a mansion. Looks like a 1920-30's California interpretation of Spanish Colonial architecture. The interior paint choice is terrible. But otherwise, the building is not badly done. You do find older homes/apartments that have been neglected in depressed neighborhoods in LA. So maybe that can account for the association with poor people. However, a lot of those areas are getting gentrified today. And an apartment building like this would be a decent find.
