For anyone who wants to know how to get Dread: “After the in-game clock reaches midnight (1 hour in-game), if Door 13 has been opened, Dread will spawn, causing player's screens to darken and exhibit a monotone tint. It will slowly chase players while remaining scarcely visible. If Dread reaches a player, it will immobilize, jumpscare, and then kill them. I am yet to confirm this theory, but I think you can actually bring the crucifix into the backdoor sub-floor. On my recent playthrough, I made it from the backdoor to the end with the big potion bottle you get for 100 gold after beating the subfloor. I wanted to insert the potion into the rift to preserve it (as it was the only item I had at that moment), but instead of staying in the rift, the item disappeared and created a smaller orangle-yellow glowing rift. I think this allows you to bring a normal run item into the subfloor on your next run, which could include the crucifix. Now the question is will it work?
