This is amazing. Thank you so much. I have a “new” 125-year-old home I am restoring. This information is invaluable. R.I.P. Mr. Master Carpenter.

This is my father, he was an amazing carpenter. This was made in the 90's. I'm glad people are still learning from him but this video was stolen and this KZbin has no rights to this video.

How cool to have such a great video of your father. Really seems to know his stuff. I wish I had that cool memory. Sorry it was not legally used. I bet you learned a lot of great things from him. Wish I could find someone as competent as he seems to be these days.

I am a complete novice in the United Kingdom. I built myself an external room using Y tong blocks. These are aerated concrete blocks (perhaps I am the only person in the UK using Y tong blocks - a very popular block in all of Europe to build a concrete shed outdoors). I have solid concrete blocks where the walls with Y tong blocks rest, and as the boundaries of the floor. I compacted some 3 inches of type 1 stones as the basis for a floor (will then place sand, a damp proof layer, PIR insulation boards and concrete to come level with the top of the foundation concrete blocks). Now I have the challenge of fitting a door to this concrete shed. I have so far only built two three walls so only one side for the door is ready and the other can be built to measure. As most doors you buy in England are rather expensive and poor quality Chinese or Malaysian imports, I obtained an old front house door in hardwood from a place that replaces windows and doors, a free door. This door is about 830 mm wide (33 inch) wide. I have no frame for this door so must make my own. I now have the challenge of hanging the door. Although this is an external door I will hang it to open outwards with its handle on the left if viewed from the outside and opening outwards and to the right if facing the door. I must build a wooden frame (perhaps in hardwood? oak? walnut? birch? The Y tong aerated concrete blocks are very light and crumbly. For this reason some weeks ago I stuck a thick vertical square cross section piece of hardwood, like a post for a fencing panel?, and set it in rapid set concrete so it is flush and slightly behind the wall in order to lean my frame so as to give it more rigidity and support (I do not rely only on the concrete wall). Unfortunately, I put this wood piece of vertical hardwood (a type of fencing post) on the left side when looking from the outside. At that time I was going to open the door outwards (or inwards) hinged on the left if seen from the outside but now decide to hinge in on the right side. I plan to hold the makeshift wood frame with foam to the concrete blocks and perhaps with some appropriate fixings (perhaps the fixings will have glue so they stick better in the concrete). I am concerned about obtaining a flush finish, the bevel you spoke about, and will use "packers" (plastic packers) instead of shingles. Have you any pressing tips for this type of installation. I could send you a photo. Many thanks and kind regards. I have enjoyed very much your videos.

i really like your way of doing things. It looks so easy. Can you show us how to do the hinges jig template in more details in other video? It did not show you use the router to route the door hinges.

You didn't center the pre-hung door before nailing the outside.
