Dopamine breathing can be used any time you are looking for or needing ACTIVATION. Morning time seems obvious, but you can use this technique anytime you need to clear your mind, increase your focus, when you are feeling low or just lethargic and you need to get energized. This breathwork really turns on the frontal area of the brain, the executive director area…so important to be firing on all cylinders.
With this type of breathing, like other kinds of intentional breathwork, the goal is to breathe in a deep, rhythmic way to over oxygenate the body, send the oxygen into the middle of the brain, activate the pituitary gland and trigger the hypothalamus to release all the feel good chemicals into the body. That dopamine rush will feel like energy coursing through the body, and you may notice that your temperature may feel extra hot or extra cold. YOu may feel pressure or aches in your body…these are just areas of stuck energy so if that occurs just bring your awareness to those areas and let the breath move through the blocks. While our session isn’t extended, you still may experience tetany, or the lobster claws, of your hands, you may feel cramping in your face. This is also normal, it’s part of the sympathetic response. As soon as the parasympathetic nervous system kicks in, and it will, the tetany will go away. Now you may also feel emotions coming up…that’s also normal as emotions are simply energy in motion, so the breathing will start to move old stuffed down emotions up to the surface. If you feel anger, or grief, or anxiety, sadness, these are the most common…just allow it to come up…keep breathing and observing how it will simply be released. We are creating balance in the body, we are creating space in the body. In this space you can plant the seeds of your intentions today and allow the universe to deliver all that you deserve right now right here.
