00:00 Everything you do requires motivation and reward (or punishment)
00:45 Need an introduciton to dopamine?
00:57 This video is part of an ongoing dopamine mini series
02:03 This video is also part of a neuroscience series
04:00 I'm Andrew, and this is Sense of Mind. Please like and follow!
05:17 What is a "motivational state"?
07:11 What is a "reward"? (in psychology and neuroscience)
08:35 Important brain regions for reward and motivation.
09:28 Dopamine is NOT all about pleasure.
10:30 Dopamine's main function: Prediciton Error Signaling
12:12 Unexpected reward increases dopaminergic firing in reward regions
13:20 Expected rewards trigger dopaminergic firing only during the cue
14:40 Expected reward doesn't occur? Dramatic decrease in dopaminergic firing.
16:23 Expected reward over long period of time causes no increase in dopamine.
18:27 We will be going deeper into all of this in future videos, so stay tuned!

Finding your content on dopamine and serotonin really interesting. Do you have any videos on how they impact each other please? Does taking amino acids that are precursors to dopamine or taking L-Dopa have an effect?

13:50 I do not find sense that dopamine is released when that friend gives us the cookie, taking into account that dopamine is related to motivation, it would be logical that it is released when we think of something good that we believe we can achieve and thus give us the necessary motivation, it would be something like thinking that in two days our friend will give us a cookie if we do x thing.
