In my life, I am a vocal coach. You can clearly hear he is in chest voice (our natural voice) with the deep voice and verging on head voice (pushing the sound forward and into the nasal cavity) for the higher voice. Meaning, the deeper voice IS his real voice. He isn't showing any vocal fry in the deeper voice, which, too, says it's not outside of his normal modal voice.

I'd say his natural speaking voice might be somewhere inbetween, and that he's going deep and high on purpose here to create a contrast. Talking into a microphone also allows you to go much deeper as your ressonance stays the same even in the lowest registers, so you can go suuuuper deep and still sound natural.
