What a beautiful composition! Thanks for the post. As a classical music collector over the last 45 years, I searched for works of female composers from Clara Schumann to Amy Beach to Jeanne-Louise Farrenc. But Thanks to KZbin, I have found many more female composers whose music are a joy to listen to. I recently heard Dora Pejačević's symphony on Cleveland Radio and was blown away and came here to listen to her other works. I am astonished of the beauty and maturity of her works and shocked that she has been neglected from the classical repertoire.

Many “minor”, forgotten and/or “over-shadowed” etc composers really produced totally worthy material! Cello repertoire is actually and thankfully almost “unlimited”! 🌈🌦️

Her name is Dora Pejačević and she is the first Croatian female composer. She composed the first Croatian piano concerto and it is after her that the Croatian selection for Eurovision is named.

This is a majestic performance especially since I feel strongly that the Cello is Angelic! Another lovely composition by Dora!

This composer is capable of expressing very deep feelings with her music and she is not short of musical invention and imaginative surprises throughout. She deserves much more attention.

This beautiful sonata by the composer Dora Pejačević, who died rather young, is in a quite personal post romantic style.

Vraiment splendide !

Because she is from Croatia..! That is the fate of so called "small nations": they don't get enough recognition, attention and respect they actually deserve. If Dora was for example from Germany or France or Russia , l think she would be regarded much higher and considered a "world famous" , in the line with those composers who you mentioned, like Brahms , Schubert, Grieg, Dvorzak, etc..! It should be a shame for Europe that some parts of the continent are still being discriminated, culturally and otherwise, and considered as "provincial" or less worthy, only because of the geography , even if they have the same (or maybe even more!?) amount of talent than so called "big nations"! Maybe now in the EU this is beggining to change to a certain degree but it's still too slow and not enuogh..But, there is a saying: better late than never! With respect, greetings from Croatia, a small country full of talent..!

I can't help observing that the woman is playing the cello side-saddle. I wonder whether that was a regular practice in more modest times, like they rode horses.
@drtnzhr34467 жыл бұрын
Well, in the past it wasn't acceptable for women to hold the instrument between their legs, so this was the way they used to hold it instead. Today it looks kind of strange.
