Well our local store had a 20% off sale a couple of days ago. We purchased a kit with the Gen 2 powerhead, line trimmer, lawn edger, cultivator, 5Ah battery, fast charger and strap. The kit also included a black EGO baseball cap as a bonus. And the purchase entitles us to an extra 2.5Ah battery at no extra cost. Straight off the bat, the lawn edger produces beautiful straight clean edges in quick time. I thought I did pretty good edges with the line trimmer, but the lawn edger is next level. And the cultivator has proven to be perfect for our needs. Having had a dedicated EGO line trimmer for a couple of years, I certainly agree that the Powerhead line trimmer is heavier, louder, and vibrates more than the dedicated line trimmer. It's not a show stopper. But like you, I will continue to use the dedicated line trimmer and save the Powerhead for lawn edging and cultivating / tilling. Saves the annoyance of having to switch the accessories all the time. Thanks again for producing a video that is absolutely spot on. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

Way better comparison video than others I watched. Many don’t even mention the clockwise vs counter-clockwise change or the ambidextrous safety. Thank you!

Just bought the EGO Gen 2 with four different attachments.I can confirm what he demonstrated.I'm really enthusiastic about this Multitool.I also own the brushcutter PH 1420 which is absolutely fine and of an extremely good quality and I can recommend the EGO Power tools, although made in China!

How do you like the brush cutter? I have 4 attachments I bought from people but no powerhead yet. Was waiting for a sale on the 1420 but I found a 1400 for $50 so I might get that..

The brush cutter is absolutely fabulous.I bought the 1420 from the very beginning.I don't know the difference to to the 1400.But reading the data from both the 1420 has more power whuch I find is necessary.

Thank you so much for the great review. I've had an EGO line trimmer and Blower for a couple of years and they have both performed well. We are now looking for a cultivator to maintain a few small garden beds. The EGO one looks like it would serve our needs and the line edger would be a handy tool as well. So it looks like Gen 2 PH1420, here we come. Cheers from the Land Down Under.

Great video! I just got the non-carbon fiber gen 1. My original doesn't have the 2nd speed. Bought it back in 2017.

Wow, I didn't know they ever made one with single speed.

Ego had a similar design of string trimmer head to the one you showed on later models of the gen one power head but the head did not last for me and the bearing on the spinning disc didn't seem to do much. The disc seemed to have lots of resistance even after a short amount of use.The Ego STX3800 came with a rotating disc on the bottom of the trimmer head. It was much better. I got years of commercial use out of this head with no issues with the disc but I can't say the same for the STX3800. The head also did have some occasional jamming issues but it wasn't a huge deal. I also found out the gen one commercial head was able to fit on the gen one power head and that is what I used after I was done using the STX3800. I used the gen one power head for a few years until the STX4500 came out. The gen 2 commercial head swapped out the spinning disc with a quick loading function. It is a much more reliable head in terms of jamming and so far it is still holding up after not having a spinning disc

Thanks for pointing that out! The string trimmers I've used from EGO were the old ST1500SF and the newest Line IQ model, neither of which had the spinner feature. I didn't realize they had models in between with it built in.

HEY NATE, great to see You with a new video. I have always enjoyed your straight forward no nonsense and ‘honest’ reviews. Congrats on a New Home. This looks like a good upgrade from EGO. What size line does this use? I’m thinking it will handle .095 Ok? I’m thinking You are in need of a new power tool or two for that House? 😆 Just throwing that out. Take care stay safe! 👍

Thanks! I've actually been in this house for a few years, but I don't post many videos of the exterior. I run .095" line in it, which is what it comes with.

The Gen 1 was no slouch either. They took something good and made it great with the Gen 2!

The heat reminds me of something you once said to me while we were taking kids tubing at camp. Me: “it’s SO hot!” You: (sexy eyebrows) “Sorry.” I still laugh about that almost 20 years later

OMG! What happened? I saw the LG washer video from 8 years ago - and I thought the host was a different person! Too much aging. Color treat the hair, for a better on camera appearance.

I'd like to see a bed reshaper attachment. They have an angled blade for cutting the edges of your plant beds.

My gen 1 powerhead is on its sixth summer. Maybe I will look at upgrading. I bought the snow shovel attachment 2 years ago when it came out, and I was disappointed with its performance with my existing powerhead. While I also started with the trimmer kit, I bought the carbon fiber trimmer last year because I really liked the power load feature on it.

I have the snow shovel attachment too, but I haven't used it with the Gen 2 power head yet. The few times I've used it on

@DoresoomReviews I have a single stage and the big 2 stage as well. I bought the Shovel attachment for the steps, porch, and patio as it's too hard to get even the small single stage into the backyard. It does ok with a few inches of light snow. However, if there is only an inch or two of snow, I prefer to use the brush attachment as it's wider and quicker. The shovel will stop spinning with 2 inches of heavy wet snow, but so does the single stage. Boeing makes a snowblower lubricant that really helps.
