From memory. Hall and Oats do a similar thing with I Can’t Go For That Verse is Dorian (the happy minor) The chorus does a majorish sounding line cliche . C Cmaj7 C7 and I play an Fmaj7 (on guitar)

To make it a little more easy, C Dorian is just Bb Major Scale but starting on C, and C Mixolydian is just F Major Scale starting from C
