When my great grandparents were alive, this was their song. When my Nana was in the hospital, before she passed away, my great grandpa sang tea for two for her. It was really emotional and it made a lot of people cry, though I wasn’t there while she died, the thought is still sad. My great grandpa lived a few years longer, and he was always depressed. He missed her and he never wanted to do anything other than see her again. He peacefully passed away December 2nd, 2023; a week before my birthday. All he wanted was to see her again. Although I am atheist, I do hope that whatever is out there, whatever happens, that they can reunite again and be happy. They were married for over 75 years. It’s a sad but also beautiful story. And so, on his funeral, instead of everyone being super sad, they celebrated his life, and how long he lived. They were buried next to each other. What they had was so special and I hope I can find a man or woman like that.

A fine story, you share with us! I either don.t know, if there.s heaven or hell, but for people like your grandparents I believe, that there is a place together somewhere!! 👍

Listen to her pronounce the consonant "k". She has a series of six of them (including the initial consonant "c" on the word "cake") in just two lines. (There is also the paired voiced consonant "g" in the word "sugar"). Clearly but gently, as though she is speaking just above a whisper, in a playful and cute manner. The vowel fades before she applies the final consonant, which calls more attention to it. The "g" and "k" are spoken with the tongue in the mouth, and she pronounces them in a sticky way, perhaps suggesting more than how tasty that cake will be. She takes a clever lyric and turns it into a lover's coo. In the final phrase, she pronounces the "b" and "p" and "w" with the lips as though going in for a kiss. She sings with a sweet and soft tone with a smile in her voice which matches the words of the song. She really sang these intimate love songs well.

In just this one clip of a simple song, you can see and hear all of Doris Day's astonishing star power - she looks ravishing, her screen presence is radiant, her persona shining, her voice is heavenly - when she sings 'sugar cake', if you are not totally smitten there is something wrong with you. She acts totally naturally, effortlessly and timelessly unlike many of her contemporaries. Doris is one of the GREATEST but most under-rated stars probably because she is so wholesome, feelgood and optimistic and because she appears just to be who she is without effort or tactic. Amazing. RIP.

Hey, guys. Indonesian here. But my late Pa did love all those classic legendary movies. So I learned about the song when I was four in the late 70s. The spirit carries on - with those wonderful memories. Which brings me to this... 1) I feel grateful I still had a chance to know American culture very early. The movies & music make everyone feel (& just like me, still) young. Those quality music are forever. Not even to be musical, but man... They are immortal. Raindrops Keep falling on My Head, Beyond the Sea, Somewhere, theme of Moulin Rouge, Born Free, Magnificent Seven, etc... 2) I feel for Gen z today, they have no idea what they are missing. Almost all today's music are garbage. That's why we see so many desperation, faking on social media, bullying, suicides .... They lost in the storm. So, let's enjoy all these great classic all the way. Glad I can learn from you all. 🌟

Ever since I was little, whenever I would go on vacations I would bring back a tea pot as a souvenir. On one particular vacation, I found a particularly beautiful tea pot in a little store. I picked it up by the handle, and it started playing music! Being caught off guard, I quickly set it down again, but never let go of it. Needless to say, it came home with me and I fell in love with the little tune it played. Recently, I have been trying and trying and trying to find the name of the song, but to no avail. But after more extensive research, I believe this is the song it plays. I now have this sense of peace, like a piece of my soul that has been awake for too long, like a grumpy child, has been put to bed, tucked in, and is now dreaming peacefully

Her movies were a safe and a wholesome fun for all the family to watch and spend quality time together .. I call her The Elegant Mother as she was a mother in most of her movies .. kind, loving and yes Elegant. She retired in Carmel, CA where she bought a cute hotel only to allow pets in as other hotels in town were not allowing pets in. She represented the best in our American culture. God bless her soul and accept her in His Mercy and in His Paradise.

Darling, this place is lovely oasis Where life's weary taste is unknown Far from the crowded city Where flowers pretty caress the stream Cozy to hide in, to live side by side in, Don't let it apart in my dream Picture you upon my knee Just tea for two And two for tea Just me for you And you for me alone [NANETTE:] Nobody near us to see us or hear us Mm, mm, mm, No friends or relations Mm, mm, mm, On weekend vacations Mm, mm, mm. We won't have it known, dear, That we own a telephone, dear... [NANETTE:] Day will break and I'll wake And start to bake a sugar cake For you to take for all the boys to see [BOTH:] We'll raise a family [JIMMY:] A boy for you And a girl for me [BOTH:] Can't you see how happy we would be...

I saw a free Doris Day movie on KZbin the other week and now I'm getting endless recs from the algo, lol. 1950? I forget she started her movie career in 1948; I forget how long she'd been around. Fun fack: Day was 4 years older than Marilyn Monroe, which is weird because I mostly know Monroe's movies as 50s things and Day's movies as 60s things. But, Day was big in the 50s, too. I'll agree with her own assessment that her real talent was singing, not acting. This here is a fine example.

Remembering my time in the Air Force days in Europe I heard Doris had at her birth time a name by Gisela. Even I'm mixed from Germany & Turkey and today I'm Swedish. Gosh Man, how the times mix these days all as a classical and jazz music. Today my kids know my LP archive and play sometime Doris just as my dead ones did once upon a time. All in all I love that voice that still keeps me younger.

That's because film makers have always never used things that we use to record. They have their own market of TVs, Recording Technology, and editing tools that we can't use (Because it's very expensive). All the stuff you can buy at the mall for a studio is just a consumer based level of quality.
