I love this video because she knows what shes singing about! Her anointing is apparent, but she just sings the song with authority and conviction. There is not fanfare, just flatfoot, straight up singing with elegance, charisma and exceptional class. I love Doris Sykes forever!

That was her pastor Rev. Maceo L. Woods, the founder of the Christian Tabernacle Church-- Baptist located at 4712 South Prairie Ave. on the South Side of Chicago. Lady Sykes, as she was affectionately called, was a member of the church from its beginning and a lead vocalist on each and every album recorded by the church choir known as the Christian Tabernacle Concert Choir. Having just had a heart attack in May, Rev. Woods came up out of his seat to come to the front to get her because clearly he did not want Doris Sykes to overdo it. He was looking out for her best interest. I am sad to announce that Pastor Woods just made his transition on Saturday, January 11, 2020 which was almost four years after his beloved Doris Sykes left us and her incredible, unique Soprano voice was silenced on February 5, 2017. Rest in Love, Lady Sykes!! HE knew just how much you could bear!!
