I recently mispelled the name of a product that was printed on a label and applied to the product. I know this feeling you're talking about. It was a sick label, but when I was informed the word "Essense" isn't spelled like that, it really took away the pride I had in the design. What you're talking about here is such a small mistake. Hardly anybody (if anybody at all) will notice or care, but I understand the compulsion to acknowledge mistakes like this before others do.

I'll always have a soft spot for Insect Armageddon because it was the first EDF title I ever played. I got an Xbox 360 for Christmas and one of the games that came with it was EDF: IA. I replayed it recently and I think it had a lot of great ideas Sandlot would cherry-pick and implement into their series. Where I think the game falters is its scope and size. It's much a smaller and shorter game than the Sandlot ones. It also tries to be funny in an ironic way but misses the point. EDF's dialogue is great because it's played straight, but in Insect Armageddon, everyone's spouting quips and trying to be as sarcastic as possible.

I personally think Insect Armageddon was the most underrated EDF out there. Insect Armageddon introduced me to the EDF series and I'm glad I discovered it. EDF is a underrated series in general and I'm really happy it was a part of my childhood. Also, I'm still surprised people make vids about EDF, especially Insect Armageddon and it makes me happy to see its still known. Honestly Insect Armageddon was probably one of my favorite ones and I recommend it for alot of people. Some people I have introduced it to judged it because of the graphics and the graphics are definitely out dated but I still think its a good game and deserves to be known. Thank you for possibly reviving the series along with with TheRussianBadger its amazing to see EDF content again.

For all the crap I gave it, one thing I should have pointed out as a universal positive of Insect Armageddon is the many people it introduced to the series. Comments like yours are awesome to see, very glad someone is excited about the EDF series!

Nah, this game was a gem. The enemy designs where amazingly good and cool to fight against. One day i hope the designs for hector robots change in the main games.

this was my first EDF game and actually got me onto the series, i liked the game a lot, mainly because one feature was the npc allies could rez you at least once(if i remember right it's been awhile)

My friends and I loved 2017, so we all picked Insect Armageddon up the day it released. Our first play session was super fun. We all played different classes and enjoyed seeing what the game had to offer. We were thinking that we would get a ton of playtime out of Insect Armageddon, but then... we completed the final mission... in our first play session. The abrupt ending killed our momentum. After that, we only played the game in brief spurts. It definitely hasn't aged well, but it did try some interesting concepts that were done better in later titles.

Iunno, that pilot was pretty smooth. I'd fly with him. Insect Armageddon looks like a interesting experiment, but yeah, it's not quite EDF. Same as Iron Rain, but IA seems a nicer atmosphere

@@Dorkaxe IR and WB are inundated with cosmetic DLC. WB is voxel, so it already sets a bit of a low standard...but moreso to the point I don't think the aesthic of IA I see here is inherently bad- It's just not EDF. I think it's indicative of East vs West differences(especially at the time), which I think will also be highlighted if you look at IR vs 5. I've yet to do a proper playthrough of IR, so take it all with a grain of salt, though.

I like EDF.IA , played it on my xb360 back in the day and loved the designs My dream EDF game would have the japanese gameplay and western graphics Just imagine if Iron Rain played like EDF 5 (or if EDF 5 looked like Iron Rain) would be perfect down to the last minute detail 😂😂😂

I agree with everything aside from the looks, thats what kills it for me in the other edf games, the wacky colors used for everything are somewhat eyesores though not to say this game's coloring is bland something about how the characters look is more appealing than the wackos in the other games which made me stop playing them

So apparently Insect Armageddon takes place during the same time as EDF 2017. In the final mission the EDF Commander states that Storm 1 (The Player) and along with a few others were the only remaining EDF Force. I guess Insect Armageddon acknowledged that based on the difficulty endings. In the Final Mission of Insect Armageddon You die. Still though the Final Mission is extremely underwhelming but not gonna lie though I actually found the Dialogue to be pretty funny for the Final Mission anyway. But I think you will like Iron Rain. It is much better than Insect Armageddon. Has some pretty cool designs too.

Insect Armageddon was my first EDF. I always wanted yo do 2017 but didn't have an xbox. Years later I'm ab EDF veteran. Played 2017 via series S and done 4.1 and 5 and bow doing 2 via switch japanese version and the original one via ps2 emulation

So i kept seeing a bunch of EDF games are available on PS+ and decided to look it up. Was highly interested and decided to purchase EDF 2 for PS Vita and am highly enjoying it. Was gonna avoid Insect Armageddon because I always hear how bad it is, but honestly your video made me interested. At the very least I wanna run through the whole game once and then move onto 2017 and so on. Better to play it early and then forget about it with the better EDF games I think.

Insect Armageddon was my first one and it was amazing. The weapons and leveling was well balanced even on inferno. Sure you have a limited health pool but it works. Even one of my friends were introduced to this game and he loved it. So you may have a negative out look on the game but I feel different.

I grew up and first exposure to EDF was Insect Armageddon literally no one played multiplayer and only found 1 late game guy that sticked with me to the end and voice chat was always on he could hear me lol it was ok first playthrough but the grind through these boring missions was painful so i just stopped lol atleast Fencer was introduced i loved that class and other stuff I think it was cool for the rail shooter while you were in the labding craft thing to clear out the area before you land that was cool for me And yes you need lots of homing weapons

The main thing I like from this game and iron rain is the inclusion of male wing divers it always felt strange to me that if you wanted to fly in the other games, you were forced to be a bikini wearing woman.

As a young teen this was one of the most disappointing games in my teenage and years. The best part of the game was the addition of the classes, I loved 2017 so much and I was so excited for this game only for it to be a disappointment. The over reliance on homing missles , hectors now being mini bosses, lack of levels and epic bosses like ant queen, legally distinct godzilla, spider king, HORRENDOUS flying enemies, limited enemies on screen etc ruined the game but I actually prefer the weapons for the classes in this one, sometimes I just want to equip a reliable normal gun on someone not named ranger. As for the tone I THINK what they were going for is a throw back to cheesy Hollywood action movies like independence day as opposed to Japanese monster movies which in theory I like but execution wise it could have been better It feels like a 00s reboot of a franchise like shadow the hedgehog or the edgy space invaders reboot

I agree, with the right execution, I think the different tone could work well enough. It being the only other EDF game at the time makes it a little worse, almost like how DMC2 was the only other DMC game at the time and it was also not as good as the first. I sincerely hope I enjoy Iron Rain and World Brothers, even if I know they won't be as good as EDF5.

It's fascinating to me that Active Reloading was something that did indeed technically make it into an EDF game. It seems like such a clear fit to the gameplay, and it wouldn't be hard to reward players for successful active reloads. (any/all of the following immediately spring to mind: more ammo, more damage, a satisfying sound effect and/or animation for it.)

GREAT video and review. I personally liked the enemy redesign and the way the hector sounds, but I get what you are saying. Its such a shame this game is kind of half assed, so many decisions that just make you go, what were they thinking? It could have been such a good game if they were more faithfull to the EDF series. And hot take time : Its honestly very weird that Iron rain has mixed reviews and IA is 83% positive. Having said that, I would not say no to a cheeky sequel to either Iron rain or IA. I am currently replaying this game, and the bots are doing my head in. Its a coin flip whether they are usefull or not. Its also a shame, from what I can tell, there are differnt kind of bots with personality. I got Kid and Kicker, and apparantly they are hard tied to your savefile. The only way to get other bots is to wipe your save.. and no hecking way am I doing that. I really wish this game just had mods.. either to cut down on the grind, or to atleast remove the ticks. The grind is just way too insane, I noticed you didnt speak about hitting Rank 8 and getting a ultra OP weapon, im going to take a guess and say you never reached that rank. Because to reach it, you need to be insane with the amount of grind it takes. Which is my cue to hop back on IA and grind some more. Im about 50% to Rank 8.

Most positive experience that came from Insect Armageddon is seeing Lightning Alpha become a joke in World Brothers. Other than that I guess the Battle Armor's ability to destroy its shield is neat and I like the Mantis enemies. Otherwise game really sucks.

I agree, I was such a big fan of 2017, my friend saw this game and thought it was more cooler, maybe cause hes more of a graphics person at the time, I knew something felt off when playing it, the biggest turn off was the lack of levels that 2017 had tons of, and it didnt feel as fun to play, I didnt want anything to do with it after a first playthrough. And once I learned it was just a basic spin off I was glad that the series didnt become that lame...
