Attention: Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki, the 350-550cc range is where we want to see you making dual sports and "small" adventure bikes. The longstanding gap between a 250 and the jump to a 650+ isn't working out. You've had 20+ years to figure that out, and it looks like some other manufacturers are going to solve the problem for us without you.

My bike manages on the highway but not super comfortable but trudges along offroad. The 690 meanwhile hates to go slow but obviously has way better suspension, is lighter, is super planted, and chilling on the highway, also it chews tires.

A lot of more experienced riders in Australia (and elsewhere) have purchased this bike for themselves - not just entry level. On paper, it's relatively heavy but it carries its weight so low that it feels and rides much lighter. A lot of folks have replaced the 14T front sprocket to a 15T to reduce revs at highway speeds. The suspension feels stiff but it's really dialled in for aggressive riding, I've hit some serious pot holes at some speed and it didn't bottom out. Folding mirrors, folding gear shifter and folding brake pedal come standard. The problem is, like many first year models bikes, is parts and accessories available. It's the KTM that KTM didn't make, instead allowed CFMoto to build.

Thanks Dork, I hope the release date is not pushed back, have had a deposit in on one in Colorado since spring, (first in line for gray version), and I was originally told Sep-Oct time frame. I live up high in Colorado, so in October I will likely struggle to find riding days, ok with cold, but not ice and snow. Thanks for the review. I'm intermediate level but older, so this seems like the ticket to me. I saw one in person in July, sat on it but that was it. I did however ride the 450 NK. I hadn't ridden a real street oriented bike since my 73 Yamaha RD350 (I know, 50 years!). It seemed to have plenty of power for Denver highways, but real power was really high in the rev range and the sport seating position was hard to get used to. Looks great for more planned BDRs and a trip way down south. Sound is really good and not too loud, love that gurgle. I used to work just down the street from CFMoto in Hangzhou in the 90s, and you are wrong if you don't think Chinese firms can't make good quality. CF in Mandarin is "Chun Feng", which means spring wind, and I'd say it's fitting for this entry into the ADV market.

I have several videos of this bike on my channel if you care to have a look. Also you didn't mention the choppy throttle when going from 0 - 20% throttle off road. Love your reviews, Dork, especially the perspective from the average rider and not an A racer or an ex-racer. As an experienced average recreation rider myself, who used to do ADV rides on Dual Sport when I was younger, I really like your evaluations. Now I ride a KTM 890 (Not the R) I love the bike for BDR type riding, but I am always looking for something lighter. Is the CFMoto 450 noticeable lighter? I am also waiting for the updated KTM 390 with the 21 front tire to come out.

I just got mine 12 days ago. I bought bcs of the lowering link. But none of the shops will do. So now I have to find out if short seat or tall seat. Yes I softened my suspension much better less jerky ride. Also the clutch is amazing and gear shifter is so quick. I tel friends think about mixing a KTM 390 ADC and a Yamaha 250XTZ but with more power than both. Oh the way you can adjust the gear shiftr hieghth is realy cool too. On a scale of one to 10 I give it a solid 6. Now my problem is with dealerships mostly. Super jerky throttle that is the reason I had suspension really softened as much as possble. FYI I live in Medellin Colombia and we have a 30% tarrif on top of price so over $10k here. Try to look for a dealer lowering link? You wont find only one guy doing at his hose in Austrellia. I wouldnt have bought if I would have known not able to lower. But a ton of reat things too.

Im new to motorcycle’s and have been wanting a dual sport/adventure bike, 100% feel like this bike fits just about everything I would want from one. Ive been doing extensive research for a while and it seems like there is nothing in the same class as this other than maybe like the Himalayan. I really wish there was a japanese manufacturer of a 450 lightweight off road oriented adv bike that bridges the gap of what’s available in the market but it feels like thats just wishful thinking at this point.

😂 ExciteBike Nes 8bit was a cool intropart👍 Going up one tooth on the frontsprocket will take it down from 7 to 6 rpm at 70mph, better milage and less buzzing = more comfortable onroad experience👍 Just a little tip for those interested in this bike. Absolute first mod, along with tyres ofc.

CF Moto is not part of the Big Moto cartel that has conspired to keep us from having a lightweight off road oriented ADV bike with enough power for highway cruising when needed. We couldn't have the ADV bike we wanted because they wanted to sell us their heavier and more expensive (profitable) mid and full size ADV bikes. I'm definitely interested in the Ibex 450. Hopefully it'll force Big Moto to offer similar ADV bikes.

I’ve had my Temu Tenere for 3 months here in Australia and I love it, goes anywhere and will sit on the highway all day long at 6-7000rpm just did a 800klm trip in 12 hours on the highway and it didn’t miss a beat. Lots of people whining about the twitchy throttle on the forums but I think it’s fine, they’ve sold a heap over here proving to be very popular 👍🏻

Thank you for the review. Looks like a great little bike. Cant wait to see one up close & personal. Maybe Trade the Versys off & get rid of all that heft & odd ball handling quirks. The Versys just isn’t designed to do this type of riding, even though I have made it work since 2016. I’m tired of fighting it.

Not everyone is trying to climb Everest on a bike. I think the Chinese understand this market well, partnership aside. It sounds good, look ok, and will generally do what it says on the box for the vast majority of folks. Can't fault that. That said, if stress tested I am sure it will come up well short against the premier brands in the same market segment, but your average Joe that wants a commute and a little adventure, why not. Good on them, maybe even help to curtail crazy margin expectations from the premier bikes? Certainly gonna eat into their sales pie.

The Scrambler despite its lack of dual-sportiness has been bomb proof, however I cannot not totally ignore the fact that it can be painfully difficult to get any part for it despite how easy it is to repair. That being said, electronically complicated, over software engineered, hard to repair, poor parts logistics bikes are a no go for me. Out 2,000 miles from home on engineers pass it was always in the back of my mind that if I broke it, my trip was over and I’d be taking a U-haul home because I certainly wouldn’t find parts for it.

@@LambvinskisGarage I agree. I am about to do the same and find a 2024 T7. I was skeptical about finding one for $8k, but it’s a completely different world and it’s definitely possible now. In fact, someone in St. Louis just bought one for $8000 plus tax and registration fees.

The Versys x300 is more capable than people give it credit to, if you judge any bike for how it behaves 100% stock, I'd agree that it's a very road biased bike, but with the right tyres, it becomes something very capable off road, the power delivery is very forgiving and it's not gonna make the wheel slide very easily unless you want to. I've spent more than 6 years owning one, and I'm close to 60.000 miles on it, through the ups and downs, the on road performance potential is greater than my skill, same applies to the off road, but it's pretty stable off road, it's actually smoother than you'd think. The CFMoto 450 MT is a step up from the Versys x300 in everything without taking a step down, fuel efficiency is similar, cruising speed is better on the 450 MT, tyre selection is slightly better for the x300 if you're looking for a 50/50 or a 60/40 tyre. On road behavior is logically better on the Versys but the 450 has the better suspension, everywhere else, power delivery, off road capabilities, features, it's the 450. I also agree that the most comparable bike to the 450 MT is the T7, respecting the obvious gap in power of course.
