I have over 21k miles on my '23 DesertX in 19 months. It's been rock solid reliable. Ducati did the DESMO service in October.

Nice bike! Here in So Cal there is very little Ducati support as far as dealerships. Owning that brand would be a nuisance for me. Having to trailer a bike home would suck! I've bought well over 10 new bikes over the last 25 years, riding every bike home from the dealership. That's the fun part of the buying process; getting used to the ergos, clutch, power..etc on the ride home.

I ran into Ducfan (caught him sniffing around my bike) at a random burrito shack near the coast a few years ago and made a fool of myself once I realized who he was/that I got to see the face of @dorkintheroad's version of the Stig. He was very nice and seemed to be a genuine dude. Congrats on the new bike, Ducfan!

When I sold my KTM 1290 SAR and bought a Husky 701 Enduro I jumped out of the Adventure Bike world. If I decide to jump back in It'll be on a Desert X. I do believe if I was going to trailer that bike home I might've rented / borrowed an enclosed trailer though.

@@timesink101 There is kind of a gray area between dual sports and adventure bikes. You can use a 701 as an adventure bike but riding long distances on the road at least for me is not ideal. 50 miles would be my max to ride comfortably on the pavement.

The 890 adventure was literally half the price. Obviously Ducatis are great but in terms of bike for the money the KTM wins at the moment.

I have to question not riding it home. Who the he’ll does that? I would have went in riding gear and by the time I got home it would be so dirty. I’m the guy who would rather crash a Ferrari than have it burn up in my garage. So many things I like about that bike but just scares me on few items.
