They’re doing shore power in ports to do away with all the ships running all day. NY port just passed it so now the cruise company have to convert all there ships.

We booked a princess Alaska cruise for last summer and three days before received a move over offer-take the cruise within the next two years and receive what you paid in refundable on onboard credit. We jumped at it and just got back Saturday! Pocketed $1600 after excursions and they upgraded us from interior to balcony!

The way overbooking happens is they book people in “guarantee” cabins and sell all the cabins. Not enough people cancel to place all the guarantees. Generally, the people with assigned cabins will get to sail and the guarantees get bumped.
