Mr. Michelinie’s comics are near and dear to me. He was the writer who introduced me to Iron Man and the Avengers in the late 70s, and those are still some of my favorite, and I believe, some of the all-time best issues of those titles. Tbh, I’m a little frustrated that he’s so associated with Venom, because that seems to overshadow all of his earlier (and, IMO) better work, but I’m sure he appreciates any love that is directed at his work. The editor who ran him off Spider-Man (a person I’m also very familiar with as a longtime fan) seems to have traded the value of a highly-skilled, consistently strong writer for focus on short-term gimmickry to boost sales. Ah, but that’s the entire story of super hero comics in the 90s, isn’t it? Best wishes to Mr. Michelinie, and thanks for the many decades of reading pleasure.
