Thanks for the information, I have a door at school that slams shut, so this video should help me to fix it. Those demo doors threw me for a moment, it looks a little like a morgue!!

Hi, I have a second-hand Dorma TS72 that I need to fit. Maybe it is an old one (there are numbers "99 03"on one end, is that week 3 of 1999?) but it is a simple black cylinder and doesn't have any of the setting screws shown in your video, all that it has are 2 screws on one end of the cylinder labelled "SL" and "S". What are these for, please? I need maximum shutting power, as there are two latches on the door to overcome. Thanks!

it sounds like you have a really old TS72 and yes the 99 03 would indicate week 3 of 1999. Sorry i dont have the old fixing templete to hand.

Thanks! I've fitted it by trial and error and it works a bit too well - it has the power to overcome the two latches even from about 20 degrees open, but shuts from full-open with quite some speed and violence. I shall have to experiment with the "SL" and "S" screws - maybe "SL" means "Shut-Latch" and "S" means "Shut"?

I should add that I need the very powerful final-closing as it is a heat-sealing fire door with two separate security latches.

I turned the S screw clockwise and found that less than a single turn made it take over a minute to close... so a point inbetween has given me the speed I wanted (down from 1.5 second to 6 seconds to close 90 degrees). But I also had to turn the SL screw anti-clockwise to make the final close stronger as it was no longer relying on the momentum of the door from the fast S setting to overcome the two latches.

Hello doorspares, nice to see your videos here on youtube, I am an expert in door closers and called "Jess the door closer doctor" took a look at the website, alot of brands offered, will there be any chance that you guys can demonstrate the installation and adjustment of the Groom (traditional style body) closer?? I have always LOVED the classic look from the 50's and 60's, perfect for bringing that certain look to a building that newer style closers cannot give off to a place (old churches, schools, universities) also, if stuck in a "jamb" or a transom or in the floor and not sure how to fix the problem, feel free to ask me for help if you need it, -Jess the door closer doctor

forgot to add, I see this style of closer in the states, it is the 8900 series, (i can only wish Dorma will use the TS- numbers for surface here, but just the TS-93, if its concealed it's the BTS (75V and 80) and if it's transom its the RTS84 or 88. also, does doorspares have twitter or any other social networking or fan sites??? -Jess the door closer doctor
