Lovely theme, thanks as always for posting it like that! As someone, who doesn't play the game, I'm wondering how these A/B/C/... versions are actually used in the game. Is it about daytime, specific locations or just random?

There's no hard set rule; certain specific tracks are sometimes tied to specific locations in order to "set the scene" when you arrive in an area, other areas will have a list of tracks to select from and then its randomly picked from that set. Some areas do have explicit "day" and "night" versions of the same theme, and some areas have explicit "horde" and "alliance" versions of the same music.
