Yeah, when a 'normal' day is listening on the radio to the magic some like Angela are just discovering, you can easily underappreciate it. Even the music variations going into the 80's seemed at least somewhat organic and linear at the time. But I think looking back, the 50's and 60's innovation bled perfectly into the masterful 70's, where music fully peaked.

Every time I hear that song it makes me pay attention with every fiber of my body, it is sung and played so beautifully and the lyrics are awesome. I mean nobody can do the song the way Dorothy sang it, it is still to this day my favorite song along with Woman to Woman, those two songs are absolute classics in every sense of the word. Soul at its best.

Sis, it was the loss of my mother and childhood. It takes me back home, my grandparents, good times. Dorothy Moore is one of the soul legends from down south. Check out I Believe You and Funny How Time Slips Away by her. She is a soul survivor. Happy listening!

This is when all genres of music were responsible respectful and so beautiful.WE had it all all the way up to 1999. Then it was few and far between for the best singers say nothing about the best songs. We had it all and we could tell the singers apart and make it tell who they were by the second or third note of the introduction. We had good taste.

I like how back then they were able to express genuine sadness in songs. Today, especially with female artists it seems, any breakup songs are driven by anger. I find the lack of anger to be refreshing. A song with a similar vocal style that I love is a duet from Jerry Butler and Brenda Lee Eager "Ain't Understanding Mellow" from 1972.

1976 was the beginning of the Disco Era. I don't remember hearing this song but it sounded familiar and found out it had been recorded by other artists before she did. The beginning of the song reminds me of the song Shining Star by the Manhattans released in 1980. I thought that song was older than 1980.
