Many people, I think, see these lyrics as breaking free from some abusive lover or something along those lines. For me, and I'm probably not the only one, it's how about depression and anxiety and other mental issues can 'chain you down'. To me, this song is like a cry of relief and liberation from getting out from the bottom of the well.

Dorothy may be singing about a old lover but for some people it's about mental issues or addiction. It all comes down to how the person listening to the song interprets it.

This song is very liberating. It makes me think of when my dad will be gone and i will no longer have to deal with him being mentally abusive and shaming me and my body. When that day happens i will be ready for it. There also needs to be a 1 hour version
