Dorsoduro forks on a Shiver

Swapping forks from a 2016 Aprilia Dorsoduro SMV750 onto a 2008 Aprilia Shiver SL750. The forks will swap right into the Shiver triples, or you can swap an entire DD front end on (including upper fender and headlight), however in this video I kept the Shiver headlight and used the DD upper fender for that custom look.

FYI Dorsoduro forks are wider on the lower mounting point, you can't simply slide them to the stock Shiver

Not sure if it varies by year, but I was able to slide the DD forks into the Shiver mounts with no issues. I found that I must use the upper and lower mounts from the same bike though, either both Shiver or both DD, not mixing upper and lower mounts across bikes.

Did i understand that right ? Shiver length 31.5" = 800 mm and the Dorsoduro 34" = 863 mm. Is that correct ? Did you measure from top to middle of the axle ?

I just measured the two forks; from top to middle of axle, Shiver is 30.25" ~ 770mm, and the Dorsoduro is 32" ~815mm. They are approximately 1.75" or 45mm different in length from top to middle of axle. Hope this helps.

You bring up a good point. Shiver forks were off the bike, Dorsoduro are on th bike under load...Dorsoduro forks are 32.5" or ~825mm with the wheel off the ground.

Is the upper clamp of the Shiver forks the same as the Dorsoduro or is it different?

It’s different…same diameter and distance between forks, but the offset to the steering tube is different, and it has different mounting points for the front fender. You either have to use both upper and lower Shiver fork clamps, or both from the Dorsoduro…no mixing and matching. Both work with either forks on either frame.
